He was drafted by the Raiders in 2010 I believe. He was a decent OT but his play began to slip fairly early in his career and he bounced around a lot. That alone should tell you all you need to know. It's obviously a covid precaution type of signing.
Nailed it

How can he play (and lose) a playoff game, then get picked up by another team and play in another playoff game. How is this not lunacy??

Hate to say, but I'm somewhat glad he tested positive. Don't wish him ill, just ineligible to play.

It doesn't seem fair to me.

Just when you thought you knew all the simple rules, Covid comes along and now you can have anyone you want playing on your team.

Some sarcasm, some not.

But now there is a 40% chance it will snow the day of. Ain’t that some :poop::poop:
I am certainly not a football smart man....(at the very least)

.....but don't games become defensive games in poor weather?

I may be alone, but the worse weather the better here?

I just need to stay in my lane.........

Honestly i dont know what is better, snow for a defensive game or just cold without?

Of course our guys aren't used to living/playing in cold weather which has a legit stigma over the years about a warm weather team coming to a cold tundra to play in January.

Hey! Just heard Rams picked up Russell Wilson due to Goff’s thumb. If Rams win Saturday, they get Rodgers for Brees/Brady game.

depends.

I don't know tons about living in snow as I only had 4 winters in eastern PA, but yeah.

The worry would be clear skies or snow with ground temps hovering around 34 degrees.

Clear skies mean that the second the sun isn't high overhead (and 3pm CST game is gonna be a night game in the 2nd half), the temps drop like bass at a rave.

Snow with temps around 34 just means that everything is cold and sloshy... everything becomes very slick.

Snow gets sticky as it gets colder so if it snows and gets to 30, that's actually better in many instances.

Just checked weather.com and it looks like 34 is gonna be the high with chances of flurries (very light snow) with the temps holding steady with a low of 23, but those temps don't hit until between 3-5am usually unless the skies clear.

honestly, this isn't bad weather.

40 degrees with cold rain would be MUCH worse... much, much worse.

I think that was worse years ago for a few reasons. And this team in particular will be better off for these reasons.

1. Free Agency.

Back in the 70's & 80's when i saw many good Rams teams shrivel up in Minnesota or Chicago, those teams had veteran players that often spent their entire career playing in LA. Nowadays the constant player movement prevents that. Woods played 4 yrs in Buffalo. Floyd was in Chicago the last 4 yrs. Whit played in Cincy for a decade, and so on.

2. Young Team

This is a young team so some of these kids were playing in the Big Ten or somewhere in the northeast very recently. Or are from cold weather cities. So as mentioned above its not loaded with guys playing SoCal for years.

3. Improved cold weather gear.

Nowadays the clothing that can be worn to keep you warm is so much better than yrs ago. My kid plays college baseball in NE PA. And even his gear keeps him warm on some pretty brutal early spring games where highs are in the upper 30's. So that is a huge factor, that along with better sideline heaters, heated benches etc..

I understand it is because Veldheer was only on the Practice Squad for the Colts and was activated for the game last week. When that game ended he reverted to the Colts PS. So the Packers have just called up someone from another practice squad which is normal process. The funny bit is the colts bit but I understand that was because of the Covid rules around PS this year.

It’s crazy that the packers would need a guy on someone else’s practice squad to fill out their roster especially now. Even crazier that they announced he’s going to play. Seems like this isn’t being given enough press, GB loses their all pro LT and sign a guy off the practice squad and plan to play him after 1 week with the team against one of the most formidable DL’s in football.

As the lowest remaining seed and with a slew of injuries to key players, nobody’s giving the Rams much of a chance but maybe this can be a positive. In ‘18 the rams were media darlings, McVay was the boy genius, people used Goff’s name in the same sentence as mvp. Now, everything is different and there are zero expectations, trashing Goff is practically a sport and McVay’s not even the smartest guy on his own staff. But what we do have is an all world defense and a qb who wants to show everyone, including his coach, that he is just as good as the rest of these guys, we got them right where we want em.
