“If you’re watching the film, the game makes sense to (Stafford),” McVay said. “I really respect the lens that he sees it through … it shows up on the film.”

IMHO that's the Jeff Goldbum "Well, there it is" moment.

Also have to add-- McVay never said this about Goff, ever.

Indeed. Welcome to The Rams Matt Stafford!

I don’t know.... 22 second mark... he sure carries the ball low. I hope we didn’t screw up.

“I don’t want to put an age on (my career span),” he said. “I feel like I’m so far from that right now. I’m only 33, I’m a young man! So I’ll figure that out when I get there. I don’t see the end right around the corner or anything like that — I feel like I can play this game at a high level for a long time, so I’m excited to get the opportunity hopefully to play for a long time for this franchise and hopefully bring a bunch of success here.”

That is encouraging. You never know what a player is thinking at 33.

He could feel worn out. Doesn’t sound that way. (y)

I love all of the talent that Stafford possesses. but like you said, that's only part of the equation.

After the trade, I start watching his clips and I see the way he is commanding the field, barking at his
Receivers. Not in a negative way, but rather constantly teaching, being a true extension of the HC.

That game he came back in after he fucked up his shoulder and threw the game winner?????
Dude that's the shit that makes the whole team willing to run through a brick wall for you.
That's a fucking leader. End of story.

I wish I could give this multiple threadwinners and high fives.

What's even more amazing is that the game in question, Stafford was a ROOKIE against the Browns.

AS. A. ROOKIE!!!

I like to think I'm a fairly educated football fan and the more I look at Stafford, the more I realize I knew nothing about him.

Dude is a lunch pail and union card carrying blue collar monster who is the exact opposite of "cool". I love it.

I remember another tradesman who was thrust in the spotlight...

He was a carpenter... and his name? Harrison Ford... Last I checked, he did okay in Hollywood, too...

Stafford appears to have some serious mitts on him. The ball looks small in that hand. That would explain how he is able to make all of those off angle throws and such. Dude just whips the ball. Flick of the wrist type shit. I LOVE IT.

Edit: Just looked it up... 10" hands. That explains it.

I laughed during the Stafford interview when he tried to pass the buck on specifics of the trade to the GMs by citing the familiar “above my pay grade” comment.

With elite QBs, this doesn’t apply :)

Seems like a good dude and this will be fun to watch!
