With the combine starting up I figured we should have one thread for all of the combine talk. Its always interesting who's measurements surprise, good or bad, and who ends up being a combine warrior. It will be nice the see all of the QBs competing with each other. This year I'm most interested in watching the QBs and WRs.

So far I dig Graham Glasgow's measurements for a center, 6'5 7/8" 307 lbs and longer arms for a center at 33 5/8" being coached by Harbaugh doesn't hurt either. It also appears that Max Tuerk gained weight coming in at 298 lbs. As far as linemen go im really only looking at centers.

Goff measuring in with 9 inch hands is awesome news. That'll hurt him on some team's boards. Possibly even the Browns. Which is great for us. Because that kid will be special here.

Rams GM Les Snead, quarterbacks and receivers set for Day 2 of combine
By Nick Wagoner

http://espn.go.com/blog/st-louis-ra...erbacks-and-receivers-set-for-combine-day-two

INDIANAPOLIS -- Thursday will be another busy day in the land of the NFL scouting combine.

Now that we've got our seemingly requisite snowstorm and cold out of the way, we can continue on with the business that must take place here. After Los Angeles Rams coach Jeff Fisher took his turn at the podium on Wednesday, general manager Les Snead will get his opportunity on Thursday.

Here's a quick rundown of Thursday's activities related to the Rams:

-- Snead is set to step to the dais at 12:45 p.m. ET at the Lucas Oil Stadium media center. While Fisher (understandably) took plenty of questions about relocation and going back to his home area, hopefully there will be more room for football questions for Snead. This is an important offseason for the Rams from a roster standpoint and there are still some pressing questions that require answers. Like Fisher, this will be Snead's first time in front of a large national group of media since the move to Los Angeles was announced in January.

-- With running backs joining the offensive line group for the first time this year, Thursday's media session will focus exclusively on two of the three positions where the Rams need help the most, in my opinion: wide receiver and quarterback. A few quarterbacks -- such as Oregon's Vernon Adams -- made their way into the media room a day earlier on Wednesday but the vast majority are expected to arrive on Thursday. That means we'll be monitoring the likes of Cal's Jared Goff, North Dakota State's Carson Wentz, Memphis' Paxton Lynch and many others.

-- Among the receivers, some players we'll try to catch up with include Ohio State's Mike Thomas, Mississippi's Laquon Treadwell and Baylor's Corey Coleman, among others. One question that will be asked of Treadwell is whether he will be running the 40-yard dash, and if not, why? That's something teams will want to see and avoiding it here isn't a good thing unless there's an injury involved.

-- Tight ends also will be a part of the group and could be an area the Rams are hoping to address after releasing Jared Cook last week. Arkansas' Hunter Henry is a name to know at that position, though this year's class of tight ends doesn't appear particularly strong at first glance.

-- The actual on-field workouts don't begin until Friday when the running backs, offensive linemen and specialists step on the field. The receivers, tight ends and quarterbacks will do their thing on Saturday.

Micheal Thomas checks all the measurement boxes, 6'3" 212 32 1/8" arms 10 1/2" hands. Treadwell measures up as well 6'2" 221 lbs 33 3/8" arms 9 1/2" hands. Coleman is tiny but we knew that. Fuller has short arms 30 3/4" and tiny hands 8 1/4". Doctson is 6'2" not the 6'4" he was listed at.

That's good for Tuerk, as long as it's good weight. I like Glascow too.

Cal's, Kenny Lawler 6-2 203, 33 3/8, 10 1/2 hands. He has gained some weight, he is an underrated receiver in this draft IMO. He's very long, and has great hands.

I don't want Fuller, dude drops way too many passes so hope the Rams steer clear of him. All Thomas needs now is a strong 40 time and he could easily jump Treadwell on some boards.

That height hit on Doctson is gonna hurt him if he doesn't make up for it with a strong time. Those 40s are loomin large with the wideout rack 'n stack.

And yes, very happy with Goff's hand measurements. Great news for us because Cleveland is not going to take him now.

Daily Combine Wrap-Up: Thursday

By Myles Simmons

View: http://www.therams.com/news-and-events/article-1/Daily-Combine-Wrap-Up-Thursday/b1fa658f-9c3f-4059-a6e4-4e4aa7c0880f

INDIANAPOLIS -- Day 2 of media availability at the 2016 NFL Combine has come and gone with quarterbacks, wide receivers, a few notable running backs, and Rams general manager Les Snead taking to the podium. Let’s get to the big takeaways of the day’s happenings in this daily recap.

TOP STORIES

1) Bringing back the secondary

Starters Trumaine Johnson, Janoris Jenkins, Rodney McLeod, and Mark Barron are all set to hit free agency when the new league year begins in March. While there was no definitive news to report on Los Angeles’ pending free agents in the secondary, Snead did sound like there has been some positive talks with the representation for those players.

“Right now it’s, ‘Hey, we’d like your guy back,’ and they’re saying, ‘We’d like to be back.’ I think we’re stuck on the number as we all go through this,” Snead said.

But just as head coach Jeff Fisher has done since the end of the season, Snead classified bringing back the secondary as critically important.

“If I were to prioritize what’s going on in our building -- and there's a lot of things going on -- that’s Priority A right now,” Snead said. “Even at this Combine right now, we’ll meet with their reps maybe more than one time. … And I’m not saying anything gets done. We’ve got a lot going on here, but that’s Priority A.”

Though it won’t necessarily be easy to get all those pending free agents back in the fold, Snead said it is possible.

“You know what, that is the goal,” Snead said. “It’s a tough task, but it’s realistic. I don’t think it’s not realistic, especially considering the cap room and things like that.”

Snead had plenty more to say about those free agents, which you can read in our full story here. [LINK]

2) Looking for stability at QB

During his press conference, Snead rattled off a bunch of statistics that the club has gleaned from studies about quarterbacks. You could go through them one by one, but I think what it boils down to is this: NFL teams with stable quarterback play and strong defensive units are most likely to win.

Because the Rams have not had that coveted stability at the QB position, it’s been difficult for the club to find sustainable success. And after finishing No. 32 in passing offense in 2015, the club appears to be keeping its options open for signal-caller.

One such option could be quarterback Sean Mannion. Heading into his second season, Snead said Thursday the quarterback could make enough progress to become a consistent, productive starter.

“He’s got a nice skill set,” Snead said. “Came from a pro-style offense, so doing what we do in the NFL doesn’t overwhelm him. He can do things pre-snap, get the ball out quickly. He’s less mobile than most, but he was probably that way in high school, so he’s learned to get the ball out quick. That’s his mobility.

“I call it from freshman to sophomore year, there’s a big jump in a lot of different things -- experience, confidence,” Snead continued. “You’re not the new kid. You’re not just trying to figure out where your locker is. You actually are trying to go out and help get first downs. So, yes, you can do that.”

3) Friendly competitors

At this point, Jared Goff and Carson Wentz appear to be the consensus top two quarterbacks available in the 2016 draft. While they won’t be together much after April, for now they’re actually training together in Southern California to help ease their transition to the league.

“Carson’s a great player,” Goff said Thursday. “Me and Carson have been training together now for six or seven weeks, and he’s a great player, hell of a quarterback, and he’s going to be really good wherever he goes as well.”

With the two training together, Goff said there is a sense of friendly competition that’s been brewing between them.

“It’s just like anything else,” Goff said. “When we go out there and we throw together, by no means is it cut throat, but we’re competitive with each other. We’re just trying to do our best every day.”

We’ll have more on the quarterbacks this weekend as they get their on-field workouts going on Saturday.

AROUND THE TWITTERVERSE

In addition to their interviews, the QBs went through measurements, which sparked some interesting reactions on Twitter.

#NFLCombine QB measurements

Tallest: Paxton Lynch (6-6 5/8)
Shortest: T. Boykin (6-0)
Heaviest: Cardale Jones (253)
Lightest: Boykin (212)

— CollegeFootball 24/7 (@NFL_CFB) February 25, 2016
9-inch hands for Goff. Not ideal but not a deal-breaker. Others similar: Carr (9 1/8"), Tannehill (9"), Kap (9 1/8") https://t.co/ER5tT628Tp

— Dane Brugler (@dpbrugler) February 25, 2016
This next tweet may not have much to do with hand size, but I still found it pretty interesting. Goff did mention in his press conference that for years he’s had trouble putting on weight.

QB Jared Goff added about 13 pounds since season ended by changing diet after blood analysis showed he wasn’t digesting proteins ideally

QUOTABLE

“I just heard about that yesterday, actually. I’ve been told I have pretty big hands my whole life. Heard I had small hands, apparently, yesterday. No, I’ve never had a problem with that. I don’t expect it to be a problem at all.”

—Jared Goff on the insinuation that he has small hands because they measured out to nine inches.

“What he brings to the table as a weapon on offense and what our coaches can do, and we’ve hired a couple new coaches and they come into the building with, let’s call it excitement because of what they think he can do to help your [offense] -- and also on the special teams. So he’s a valuable piece. Again, I don’t know what we call him, but I like to call him an offensive weapon. So we’ll try to figure that out. But he’s somebody we want for the future.”

—GM Les Snead on the organization’s interest in keeping Tavon Austin around with a long-term deal.

UP NEXT

The running backs and offensive linemen will be on the field for their workouts, plus defensive linemen and linebackers are slated to speak to the media. I don’t know about you, but I’m looking forward to seeing some fast 40 times.

A true number one receiver would take Austin's game to the next level. If people couldn't key up on him, it would be amazing.

The RB's are running pretty good times, overall. Henry, and Elliot are checking boxes. A lot of other RB's putting up good numbers, seem a lot faster than last year.

My man crush on Spriggs has deepened since the Senior Bowl. The dude put up some amazing numbers, and measurables for an OT.

A Center who really helped himself today....

Jake Brendel, UCLA Height = 6041 Weight = 303 40 yd = 5.01 4.99 3 Cone = 1.71 25 Reps 31 5/8 arms. He was thought to be a late to UDFA. He will probably move up a couple rounds, at least. Looked great in the drills, and will end up with a pretty high Sparq score, after his workout. He's put on about 12 - 15 pounds since college.

I was unimpressed with Henry. He had an OK 40 but a poor 10 yard split of 1.61. He was downright bad in the 3 cone drill. Finished with a time of 7.20 and was beaten by 2 out of the 3 fullbacks. His 20 yard shuttle of 4.38 seconds wasn't much better. He was again beaten be 2/3 fullbacks and was second to last among RBs.

His times prove what you can see on tape, a long-legged guy who has slow feet, poor burst, and struggles to change direction. He has decent top speed but backs make or break it in the NFL within 5 yards of the LOS.

The target area on the shuttle is roughly .5 seconds slower than your 40 time. That's what teams look for in order to determine whether you are as quick and can change direction as well as you can run.

Tomorrow is going to be absolutely HUGE for us dudes. Biggest day of the offseason thus far IMO.

Some random notes on Sirius today:

Lot of folks flippin over Lynch and his size. Seeing him live has already started that buzz going with him.

They talked about Doughty and how Dan Marino's kids are friends with him, and according to Dan he might be the best pure thrower in the draft in accuracy. Kirwan said he'd take him round 5 and let him mature on his roster.

Lot of RBs killed it today in the workouts, which was expected. Henry solidified himself with size/speed as a late round 1 guy and they talked about what a nice fit he'd be for Seattle.

OTs Spriggs and Conklin both made themselves some money by showing they are better athletes than previously given credit for.

C Brendel and RB Marshall both forced teams to go back and re-look at their tape, both were big winners.
