It seems you may be discounting one vital addition to that CAP figure you are using ? I'm assuming the $22mil in available CAP is already accepting for the losses of Whitworth, Talib, Brockers & Fowler, ... those names most often being tossed about as free agent losses to our 2019 regular roster ?
What about the annual NFL CAP gift each team receives at the beginning of the off-season ? It's been averaging approximately $10mil per year for several seasons now, and reports have been made suggesting that figure may go up for 2020 due to a large increase in league revenue last year, have you also included this in your CAP estimations ?
Already factored in an increase of $14 million which is more than any year recently by a lot, most years it's around $8 million maybe close to 10.

I'm starting to think I was right about my thoughts on rebuilding the o-line;

I was mostly worried that we would have two 2nd year players with no starts lined up next to each other.

I wanted them to slide the more experienced Blythe over to Center and have Noteboom at Left Guard.

Have a contest in Camp for Right Guard between Evans, Edwards and Demby.

Whitworth
Noteboom
Blythe
Camp winner
Havenstein

At least you would have had an experienced player to the left and right of the inexperienced players.

OK, I checked Spotrac and they are now including an $11.mil premium for the NFL CAP allowance. That explains it, thanks.

Problem will be money. I mean unless we dump a contract signing somebody to play LT is going to take at least half the cap space we have. Look at the LT free agents going into next year and their contracts this year. Castanzo made $11 million and Whitworth made $11.25 million. Then you have some relative bargains with Peters Greg Robinson and Kelvin Beachum between $6-8 million. Aside from Robinson all of them are over 30 and/or injury prone and GRob is what we all know him to be. So if you start talking about signing a guy to play LT in his mid 20's you're going to have to raise that number considerably over what we paid Whitworth this year. Peat and Schreff hell even Erek Flowers who by all reports has been a very good Guard for the Redskins aren't going to be cheap and we only have about $22 million total with some people to sign and as always you've got to have some wiggle room. I'm all for improving the line, but looking at the cap I'd be shocked if we sign a high profile free agent, without dumping a contract.

A good left tackle is worth the money, and I wouldn't hesitate to dump the contract of certain players to sign a good twenty-five/six-year-old left tackle for five years.

Sure but there's no such thing in this upcoming free agency class.

Peat is a left tackle; he's only playing left guard because Armstead and Ramczyk are starting at tackle. He has the size and mobility to play left tackle.

Snead has drafted FOUR LT's in the last two drafts.......hopefully we have a few solid prospects fall into line. Currently, it appears that Demby is not NFL LT material & our top selected OL'er Booby Evans sure has a strong look as a Right Side Ol most likely RT. Thus, Snead appears to have hit on 2 out of 4. Having Andrew Whitworth still here working side by side with Noteboom & now David Edwards has to be something special for those two.

That combo ligaments tear event last Sunday in that Knee of our leading LT prospect for 2020 might ignite Les Snead to snag another LT in this 2020 draft. Rams have 12 signed OL'ers currently with only one on the IR. Snead is now back to nine OL'ers on his 53 MR. I still believe he needs an OG who is almost pure RIGHT OG material.

If I were Snead I would continue to select an LT in each & every draft from this point on until he retires maybe two. (y);) I'll state this ....the Rams can never have too many solid OL'ers under contract.

Same. From watching as a fan for so many years (maybe too many :)), I've grown to believe, more than most people seem to, that OL has more of an impact on things--that it has a bigger ripple effect all the way through to how your D performs, and secondly that quality OL is harder to come by than what most people seem to think, so those two ideas together make our current situation that much more disturbing and worrisome for me.

Then again I'm just another fan and could have it wrong--maybe at this point I hope I do lol...
O line lets you 'control' the game....which we did very well from mide season 2017 to the 2018 playoffs.....and then bam.

Whit was great, and Saffold was very special in 2017-18.....and with the huge dropoff at those 2 positions in 2019 (LT, LG) the rest of the line just can't hack it. We can not control the line of scrimmage, and Goff is hugely reduced to mediocre.

Bobby Evans and Edwards are good talents. Evans won't be "Good" til next year...so in 2020, it may be:Boom, Edwards,?? Evans, Havenstein.

I think we may be ok, as long as Boom comes back strong. But, getting an experienced center would be smart. I think we will draft a LT in the 2nd round, if there is one with good feet--and smart.
