Just remember, a "home town discount" doesnt mean he'll play for 10 mill per if he's being offered 20 mill per from someone else. I think folks are vastly underestimating what his price tag will be on an open market
Yep….the one huge upside will be endorsement deals in LA. Although 5 million off the field doesn’t make up salary on the field with a huge offer.

Players always say that. Translation:

“yeah, of course!, if they offer the most money".

I guess I could see it if they offer close to what the highest offer is, but they will not be able to. No cap space.

We say every year that they have no cap space, knowing that they're gonna find it.

As big of a deal is being in LA for his baby momma. Don't underestimate that factor.

I'm trying to tell y'all...

1) WE WINNING THIS SUPER BOWL!!!

2) OBJ and Von Miller are returning.

3) How many guys come back are going to SHOCK some of y'all, but we gonna run it back.

4) After we retain far more than folks think, we'll get the inevitable "The Rams have no cap unlike the rest of the league"

3 WRs in the league are getting paid over $20M. Half a season under McVay isn't going to skyrocket his value that much. I bet the max he's offered is in the $16M-17M range given his resurgence, and he plays for us in the $12-14 range.

Actually this is a hard one because any team trying to compete for OBJs services is going to be very weary of signing him. I think teams are not going to be sure if OBJ will act up because they all can see he loves it here. Likes Stafford, McVay all his teammates and he seems to perform best when in a situation he enjoys.

I didn’t want him on the Rams but I’m glad they picked him up and he’s been much better than my expectations. Would like to see him back but, I wouldn’t blame him for taking more money somewhere else but if he does this team will still have a great offense with Woods coming back, Akers for a full year and year 2 for Stafford.

Is he still a true #1?

I think you’re in the right neighborhood.. but it might even be 10-12, imo.
Just depends on priorities.. he’s played just for the paycheck.. made a lot of $.. and wasn’t happy.

And you could structure it so its not a big cap hit while Woods' cap hit is big... Then either restructure or get Woods to take a pay cut in a yr or two.

The thing is though that Jefferson is due a new deal in two yrs and you would hate to lose him, but he has not really set himself apart so you could replace him with a draft pick in two yrs.

I mentioned the cheap first year possibility earlier ;)

You probably could move on from Jefferson then.. but who knows what the cap will look like then .

Two years is plenty of time for Van to set himself apart .. I think he will do it. Having said that, I hope OBJ finds a home here, he's a rare talent. Woods will be back as well. Nice problems to have ...

I've been saying this all along. It's what I've been hearing, that OBJ knows that LA is night and day from Cleveland. This team culture is why FA want to come here and why they will stay. Von Miller and OBJ have dreamed for years about playing together. It's why IMO Miller will stay in LA if given the opportunity. He can retire as a Broncos with the one day contract when he's ready to hang up his cleats.

Stafford is living his dream. He will retire when he's done in LA.

Donald is a Ram for life. Ramsey isn't going anywhere either. His contract year will be 2025 and he will be 31.

Noteboom is on IR because they don't want to jeopardize his 2022 season and more confirmation he will be the starting LT going forward. Rochell is on IR again for the same reason and IMO means they won't be signing Williams and should get a 2nd or 3rd round comp for him.

Sammy Watkins got 15 million per year after that bad season with us I'm pretty sure. And the free agent receivers class is bad. Someone could try to offer him 16 plus.

For some reason when I see him making those catches he reminds of Chris Carter.

Carter was much bigger I know but that ball-catching radius is off of #3 is off the charts!:explode1:

Not sure I have seen a Ram pass wideout who had such soft sticky hands & that large expansive radius.

Rams TE David Hill had similar hands but he was a TE. Ron Jessie had some soft hands too but #3 is as good as I have seen in a Ram uni. :bueller:

I have always been a big fan of Robert Woods & I am hurt that he is not playing in this SB but he did get to one back in 2018. But #3 just seems to fit in better with the Kupp/Jefferson/Becham trio in this offense.

I am glad I am not Snead/McVay on trying to figure out what they are going to do right after this game is over with the upcoming Free Agency more than a month away. Legal Tmpering begins Monday, March 14th, 2022. Robert Woods will have a $15.7 million cap hit in 2022:shock:.

Torry Holt had great hands and a massive catch radius. He rarely played without a QB who would put right in his hands though.

I kinda wonder if Holt in his prime had played more games with a not-so-accurate passer, he might be appreciated more... his combination of skills might have been more apparent.
Warner and Bulger both delivered the ball on time and essentially directly to his hands...

my thoughts...

OBJ is a one and done type of player. He seems to have 1 good year (sometimes 2)with a team and then he starts his antics and starts to become a distraction.

I would rather not have that
