Frankly, I felt you were insulting my intelligence when you actually claimed that my thinking is that you should start a player on IR. Because it wasn't, and it still isn't.

Not insulting you Jerry. You are caught up in the LITERAL aspect of my analogy. My point is that numbers are not everything. On the field realities are a much more accurate reflection of what to expect in future games.

The Rams are now running Sonofbums defense on all cylinders and the guy sounds like a fool predicting them to be Swiss cheese.

Farr Be It, I agree with you that the guy is wrong. But I'm not going to indict him for trusting the numbers here. We need to earn the BOTD.

I don't think our run defense has done enough to this point in time to earn the benefit of the doubt for earlier in the year. I think you're a bad fantasy player if you start Orleans Darkwa this week because the Giants OL is injured and sucked before the injuries. Plus, the Giants will likely be playing from behind, and Darkwa is not a pass-catching HB.

Thus, it's a bad decision to play him. However, I completely understand why a fantasy guy would look at the stats and think this is a sleeper matchup. Our defense has been gashed far too often this year and given up way too many long runs.

We need to string together a few more weeks of strong play before we earn respect. We are 26th in rushing yards per game allowed, 27th in yards per carry allowed, and 29th in rushing TDs allowed. If we were about to play a pass defense with numbers like that, all of you would feel quite confident that we can light them up.

You can take a step back from your fandom and admit that we have a weakness. Winning is great, but our team is not flawless, yet. If the run defense comes together and the offense keeps producing, then we'll have a pretty strong argument for not having any real weaknesses.

Keep in perspective that this is a whole new scheme for these guys. A slow start was a liklehood. Once Brockers moved to DE the run defense improved. The defense as a whole is improving each week. It isn't about fandom. I am surprised you would suggest that.

Brockers moving to DE, the light being switched on with Ogletree and Barron re: gap fills, and Quinn maintaining edge contain. Once those things started to happen, Rams started stuffing the running game.

At least, that's the way I see it. Playing teams with strong balanced offenses will show us the truth so time will tell. I'm cautiously optimistic. We'll know for sure in a few more weeks.

I was thinking the Rams run defense has been getting better. They were getting gashed earlier in the year.

Even with the 85 YPG over the last three games they are still ranked #26 worst in run defense. The Cardinals had nothing while the Hags can't run either. Slowing down the Jags after the first play was encouraging. I doubt the Giants get much going in the run game.

Again, I agree, but I think fandom does play into it. We see the best. People who aren't Rams fans generally see the worst based on our recent history.

Personally I like looking at the number, but I think it's wrong to look back any further than 3 games, previous to the current game, in analyzing a Team or player. Too much changes! JMHO

Hopefully the Rams jump out to a quick lead forcing the giants to throw the ball. Then we feast on Eli and blow them out.

Fabiano is a freaking first rate idiot. Fantasy “hall of famer” who never wins his league. He predicted Adrian Peterson would have 125 plus yards and 2 tds.
He will throw out 10 predictions and pat himself on the back for the one that actually happens totally blowing off the other 9 misses.

Idk about NFLN losing credibility but i certainly am with my FF teams' performance this year.

But i will take credit for putting that mouthy showboat OBJ on IR. The first rd pick curse is REAL for my FF history so i decided to draft OBJ in one league and Tom Brady in another. Brady injury is pending. Stay tuned.

Bahahaha. My friend has a similar curse. He kept threatening to sign Goff this week (he had Deshaun Watson at QB). But I signed him just to keep him from being cursed too.

Oddly enough, Brady is also resistant to his curse. Tells you that there must be some serious bad juju protecting Brady.

They will see the worst even if the Rams reach the Super Bowl. I don't think they change people's minds until they get deep into the playoffs.

Aside from one play for Fournette the Rams have been shutting down the run. I wouldn't say it is only against teams with bad run games either because Jville, and Dallas can run the ball. The first half against the Cowboys and the gaffe on Fournette's run were just growing pains. The original post was right IMO. These fantasy gurus are supposed to see beyond the stats. That is where the good fantasy players make their money.

We hope they're just growing pains. The truth is that we don't know. We're one game separated from one of those gaffes. It has been an issue all year. We assume the best; they assume the worst.

I have always thought that these so called Gurus only look at the stats, and never carry into consideration the intangibles of a Player or Team! JMHO

They did the same thing on FSN, quoted the Rams as having a defense that has given up the 2nd most fantasy points to running backs. As a result, Orleans Darkwa may possibly be a sleeper RB this weekend.

Made me think of the Washington and San Francisco games and how those games skewed the stat sheet. I mean, we did give Carlos Hyde a third of his point total in that one game. So I didnt really wanna commit homicide on the FSN broadcast team because of it. I'd rather the police weren't involved at this point of the season.

I will say this Jerry. I spoke too soon about our run D. There is work to do. We have not arrived.

New York Rushing
CAR YDS AVG TD LONG
Orleans Darkwa 16 71 4.4 0 24
Wayne Gallman 9 41 4.6 0 14
Geno Smith 1 -1 -1.0 0 -1
TEAM 26 111 4.3 0 24

The Giants were gashing the Rams early with the run. If not for the turnovers and early lead the Giants and Darka could have put bigger numbers. Rams really need to tighten up the run defense.
