Sorry. First off, Bitcoin is kinda of like an untraceable internet currency. I haven't used it yet. I know in its early days it was VERY volatile. It'd be one price one day and something completely different the next so it kinda turned me off. I haven't kept up with it but hopefully it's a little more stable now.
A VPN is a virtual private network which basically takes your internet connection(IP), secures the connection, and assigns you a new IP address so people can't identify you or know where you're located. You have to pay for a VPN
PIA, or Private Internet Access, is a VPN provider.
Basically, if you want to watch or download something that might be in a legal grey area, it's probably wise to use a VPN. There are other uses for it, as well. Like if you live in a different country but want access to Netflix America. You can trick Netflix's servers into thinking you're in the U.S. so you can watch U.S. programming instead of what they offer in other countries. You could probably use a VPN to watch a game online that's been blacked out because you're in the home team's TV area. You can make the service think you're living in NY, Chicago, etc so the service would lift the blackout.
