My initial take:

NFL is a multi-billion dollar business, and there's no way they made this decision lightly and without a ton of advance research. I'd guess they asked players and coaches and determined that there would be essentially zero players who would wear them in games in 2024.

But sooner or later, I predict the player's union will EVENTUALLY come around and support the guardian caps. Might take a couple of years, but if these things reduce concussions by up to 50% like they say, sooner or later these things are gonna be standard equipment.

NFL will be working their asses off to design a Guardian Cap that somehow can incorporate a logo and look less ridiculous. Good luck with that....

Like it or not, within 5 years, I predict these guardian caps (or something similar) will be standard equipment at all levels of football.

Look how hockey used to be... no masks or helmets. Even for goalies.

Player safety will eventually win out on this one, but I predict it will take a few years to become commonplace.
