It's really short sighted too. Someone like Spanos could have easily got the financing to build his own building in San Diego (where his team belongs), and in the long term having and owning their own stadium would have increased the value of that franchise. Instead, he chose to be a renter. Penny wise and pound foolish.

Nah.
Chargers moved into a state of the art facility in a bigger market and no debt. The whole idea was to boost the team value without spending anything so that they could sell part of it off, which they have now done.

The Spanos family doesn't own anything other than the team and there are many mouths to feed.
