Really hope they don't vote to change the playoff seeding format. I suspect they probably won't.

If it ain't broke don't fix it. Fans love the rivalries and the importance of winning the division. "Purely best record" seeding format would just make it a "two conference league", and division games would become no more important than any other.

I'm against anything that makes the NFL playoffs more like the NBA playoffs.

Either way it’s aiding the runner from behind the LOS. That has never been legal in my lifetime. The first time the Eagles used that play, the ref should have flagged them for assisting the runner. That would have ended it.

I believe the aiding the runner rule was changed a few years ago. So I don't think the refs CAN throw a flag on it unless they change the rule back. I think this is basically what they are discussing.

The rule was changed in 2005. Pushing has been legal, but not pulling or lifting.

So McVay should have proposed a rule stating that when an O-Lineman screws up the protection and the defense gets a sack that the defense should be called for a 15-yard penalty.
