Both were excellent WRs but THolt career >> SSharpe career. The only reason I can think of is SS was eligible 15 years before Holt. If there is a football god, Holt will get in but will have to wait a bit bc it doesn’t look like they will let more than 1 WR in per year.
How about playoff stats??
Favoritism bullshit over sustained excellence on the field. Fuck these voters.JFC there is no way in hell that Sterling Sharpe should get in before Torry. Yea, SS was good and I know his career was cut short by injury, but that shouldn’t give him a leg up over someone like Holt who racked up huge numbers consistently for a decade.
Fucking ridiculous.
I don’t recall anything controversial but maybe I forgot. Sterling Sharpe’s NFL career ended after just seven seasons because of a neck injury.Sterling Sharpe was a great WR. He probably would already have been in if not for something controversial that happened years ago of which I forget.
I'm aware of the injury, but he used to be on TV as a commentator then something happened and you never saw him on TV again.I don’t recall anything controversial but maybe I forgot. Sterling Sharpe’s NFL career ended after just seven seasons because of a neck injury.
Yeah. After a quick search all I could find was that ESPN denied a contract renewal and replaced him with Michael Irvin.According to ChatGPT Sterling Sharpe stepped away from TV for personal reasons. I thought he was pretty good on TV too.

Sterling Sharpe, a former NFL wide receiver for the Green Bay Packers, transitioned to television commentary after his playing career, notably working with ESPN and later the NFL Network. However, he eventually stepped away from broadcasting. In a 2018 interview, Sharpe mentioned that he no longer follows football and expressed contentment with his post-football life, focusing on personal interests like golf and spending time with friends. This shift in focus suggests that his departure from TV commentary was a personal choice to pursue other passions and enjoy a more private life.
