Niners probably clinched the NFC West yesterday, unofficially. The Panthers aren't a good team, but they aren't a bad one either, and the Niners dropped 51 on them - mind you, they had won 4 straight and had a bye week to prep for that game too (the Panthers).
I really doubt they are losing to Seattle at home, which means they are essentially 10-0. IF the Rams can win their next 2, we'll be 7-3.
Then for the last 6, we both have tough games:
Rams - Ravens, Seahawks, @Cowboys and @Niners to go with Cardinals twice
Niners - Packers, Rams, @Ravens, @Saints, @Seahawks to go with Falcons at home
Here's what would need to happen for us to take the NFC West:
Before the game against the Niners - Rams go 5-1 with the loss to either Pittsburgh or Baltimore (an NFC loss sinks the season since we already have 3)
Niners go 4-3 with at least 2 NFC losses
We beat the Niners - both teams are 11-4
In week 17 we need Seahawks to beat the Niners in Seattle while we beat AZ
The irony in this plan is that the most unlikely part right now isn't the Niners going 4-3 - they will play Seattle, Green Bay, Baltimore and New Orleans in this stretch - and it's not losing at Seattle as obviously that's a tough place to win.
The most unlikely part is us winning in SF right now.
