Do I want the ball in Stafford's hands, or do I want to count on the defense? Easy choice.
Agreed.
But it still doesn't guarantee that Seattle would have scored.
I'm really surprised by all the people that have that as a given that Seattle would have scored on here.

Looking for the video but apparently McVay said the coverage on Williams on the 4th-and-4 was basically a mistake by them but ended up working perfectly.

I don't think it was a mistake. They dropped 9 into coverage and were matching on all the receivers in their area. Stafford could have held the ball for another second or two, or maybe even ran for the first down. I don't think he or McVay expected only two rushing. Stafford didn't need to force the throw to Ferguson, he could have moved around and waited for someone to come open but he probably felt the ball needed to come out to give the team a chance. It was a good call by the hawks given the situation.

I have to agree. You kick the FG if it ties or gives you the lead. If you'd still be behind then you go for it. Of course the distance matters too. It was 2nd and 4 at the 6 yard line. We didn't gain a yard in 3 tries. That being said it's 4th and 4 and you're behind by 4 points. Around 5 mins to go. Our Offense is by far the strength of the team. By far. You call your best play and let the chips fall.
Their choice with under 5:00 to go was a play to take the lead or a kick to trail by less. They had no idea if they would have the ball again or get as close as they were. The defense outguessed McVay on the play. The Ram defense still had a chance to stop them and get it back even after the fourth down play. But they didn't, and there's no reason to think they would have if they had kicked a FG.

If you have the #1 offense in the league, you should score a TD in that situation. But the shit hawks took a play from Shula and dropped everyone into coverage. Kudos to them.

As an armchair QB, my thought was throw on 2nd down and then if you're going for it on 4rth down, then maybe you run on third down. The Rams didn't need a TD, they only needed to get to the 2 yard line. If they did that, a TD likely would have won the game because the time would have run down quite a bit.
