I posted a few weeks ago that I wasn't concerned about the opposition. My main concern was McVay's game management that has cost us in too many situations.
I had no concerns about our offence, which is a powerhouse that can move the ball against anyone. McVay's in-game decisionmaking continues to be poor.
Instead of gambling on 4th and 4 in the red zone late in the 4th quarter, McVay should have taken the points.
You could justify gambling if the Rams were down by 3
if you don't convert on 4th down and trailing by 4, instead of just needing a defensive stop, you put the pressure on the offence to get a touchdown instead of a field goal to tie, with little time left.

We coughed up at least ten and probably seventeen points by not going for kicks and having terrible time management, not to mention poorly coached special teams.
There's a defense on the field too. They stuffed the run. McVay running the ball on 2nd and 5 was not a bad idea. Sometimes, the other team executes better. That's not Kyren's fault. He did his job today. Crazy that y'all are hating on him lol.

We forced them into quite a few three and outs this game.
If McVay takes the points on 4th and 4, we lose 31-30. He was right to go for the TD. He knew we couldn't trust the defense.
Even if we scored on that 4th and 4, Seahawks at the very least tie it up or win with a TD. They had 3 mins and 2 TOs. They got to our 45 yard line when trying to run out the clock.
That's really not the point. You take the points so that you don't have to go all the way down the field to score a TD - a very low percentage chance with little time left on the clock.
Everything you say is right, but it doesn't take the defense into account. And McVay didn't know if he'd be on the seven yard line again, so I get going for it.

Possibly wrong thread, but this is an underrated aspect to the season. Seattle kept moving the ball. Our offense rarely successfully ran the clock at the end of halfs or games. It couldn't get crucial 1st downs in the 1st half.
The Rams should have gone for two up 29-14 last time they played, and should have today down 31-26.
It really is the point. You take the points, the defense fails to get a stop, and then you lose. We saw that play out real time. Do I want the ball in Stafford's hands, or do I want to count on the defense? Easy choice.
Exactly. No one knew if they were going to get that close again. With that little time left your choice is to take the lead or trail by less. The D couldn't stop them but I'd rather them try and protect the lead than stop and have to move down the field again.

I agree. Play calling was pretty good overall. I mean once again we put up 479 yards on the "Dark Side" whatever...
You can't get off the field on 3rd down and you hand them 7 on a turnover was the difference.
I mean, you get the ball down 4 is WAY different then suddenly down 11.

@jrry32 Question for you..Would you have gone for 2 on either of the earlier TD's?
I would have on at least one of them. Didn't make sense to still be down +4 when you could get it within 3.
Going for it on 4th down was the right call. The plays they called were not so good. You've played the whole year and been in those positions many times, you should have a good idea of what will work.
4th and 4 in the red zone is a low percentage play.
What we saw in real time is that in our last possession even with very poor field position and with just 25 seconds left on the clock we were able to get the ball not too far from midfield when the clock ran out.
With even just a little more time, getting into field goal position to tie the game was at least a possibility, as opposed to a long Hail Mary into the end zone.
