these incremental moves aren’t dramatic and don’t elicit bellowing from the “hot take” screamers, their lemmings, or the Web-based pundits in search of click bait.
It had to be in there. A really pretty good article by Bernie but he just can't write anything without making at least one of these kinds of comments. It's like a nervous tick with him.

  1. That is nothing more than speculation, although it's been repeated so often it's assumed to be true. But if it were true, simply because of the size of the city, the 2 new York teams would be 1 and 2.
winning records count for something.
The Clippers sold for 2 billion and they've always sucked. They haven't won anything. They play second to the Lakers. They Clippers sale set the market. How much would an NFL team in LA be worth?

The article contains some decent information but does Bernie ALWAYS have to get in his smarmy little superiority jabs?

Right but it is in virtually every one of his pieces. He has to make some jackass remark about someone in almost everything he writes.

He's an angry, condescending man. He really believes he's above "the great unwashed" and that pops out from time to time in his articles.

On another note, I stop by Rams Talk once in a while to see what they're talking about and for giggles. For a long time they made fun of ROD for not allowing threads on relocation and stadium issues. Now many are calling for one single thread on this topic instead of multiple threads. It would still be a disaster however because there's zero moderation over there.

I was against having this thread here but the members have proven me wrong. It's been a pleasure to read through this thread each day. A great job by everyone. (y)

That's funny about Rams Talk.

And yeah - we were on the same page as far as stadium issues went. Guess we should have had more faith in the members here. It's a really tough issue I think for all Rams fans but has been handled with class by everyone here. Group hug?

The St. Louis fans here are great.
The Los Angeles fans here are great.
Freak those Poughkeepsie fans though. Freak them right in the ear!

Last I checked the Clippers have a very good team and record this year and last.

They do NOT currently suck.

I believe it was Forbes who did the estimation, who also estimate the value of every team and currently has the Rams last. Given the NFL doesn't open their books, I think a lot of is is estimation, but location, brand, etc all work into it. For example, the Cowboys will always be up there because of brand alone, record or no record. It all factors in, but owning teams, of any sport, in global cities (LA, NYC, London) will always increase value by quite a bit, just due to the location. Similar to why places in LA or NYC are hundreds of thousands of dollars or millions of dollars more for a fraction of the size of a place in Kansas or North Dakota. Location, location, location.

I think it's important to note that the stadium plays a big factor into the value of the team. So while the franchise value won't double in St. Louis, they probably will gain a couple hundred million in value with a new venue here. I think worst case it sets the value a little above 1 billion.

Not to derail the thread, but you're right.

The club was sold last year.

They were 57-25.
The year before, they were 56-26.

I don't think they've "sucked" for years now.

It's probably true that they played second fiddle to the Lakers... but now, they suck.

It's hard not to troll some of the posts over there. That Rammyfan dude tries way too hard to shoot everything down.
Haven't posted over there in years but I'm sure it hasn't changed for the better.

Take all the Bradford haters and apply that to STL vs. LA. Since Stan's announcement that's what it's been, but much much more intense.

Zero championships, zero conference wins, they don't necessarily suck, hut they don't have some great history to justify 2B. They were likely over sold a bit as well.

Fair enough, I should have spoken more carefully.

They do still have a perception among basketball-uneducated schmucks like me of being second tier though, whether or not that perception is fair.

I have no doubt that the 13 win Lakers are worth more.
