At this rate they’re going to need to hit on a middle linebacker to replace himLet’s hope the Rams take a shot and hit on something similar with CB next year.

If he continues to play like this all season and the fact that the players voted for him to be a captain, could signal a reasonable signing.I look at it this way, I love Land Man's play and would love to resign him. But the Rams have a price limit they would pay out and because they've been able to find a lot of talent via draft and FA over the years they are more likely to let good players go who are out of their range. And regarding Rams players (and coaches) Shawn's mindset has been happy for them and good luck wherever they go if they seek a promotion, and we'll just find another stud with our excellent talent scouts.
By subjective measurements, maybe he's not elite. I'm saying by objective measurements, he has elite numbers.Landman is definitely a step up. I would not call him elite. To me he looks better than Jones but, not by a whole lot. I think he fits the locker room way better than Jones. The mediocre play we are so used to has lowered your expectations.
In 15 games as a 3rd year player, EJ had 145 tackles, 14 for loss. He had 15 tackles in 2 separate games, double digits in 8 games. I dont know what happened behind the scenes or what not but EJ was approaching that elite status. Alas, love what Landman is bringing, he's a ton of fun to watch. Glad he's on our sideJones never approached elite numbers in our defense. Night and day.
Agreed. I was just looking at Jones' 3rd year again because it stands out. 145 Tackles, 14 TFL, 4.5 Sacks, 6 PD.In 15 games as a 3rd year player, EJ had 145 tackles, 14 for loss. Similar types yes. Difference is that Jones plays on one good knee now (since they're both big and slow for ILB that means Jones is even slower now) and is a far greater injury risk to lose time.Jones is a great comp, in many ways... including their physical profiles. Neither has elite speed, and that's what's going to prevent Landman from making huge $.
Either way.. he's balling and I'm just going to enjoy the show for now.
I like him. He is good for this team. Just not worried that his price will be to high.By subjective measurements, maybe he's not elite. I'm saying by objective measurements, he has elite numbers.
Jones never approached elite numbers in our defense. Night and day.
Our interior DL has a lot to do with it. 3 new players in the middle plus Landman. With Landman and Dolac on the field, we look unbeatable.
Defense is flooowing to the ball smoothly, almost ideally.
Not over-penetrating on run downs. Keeping contain, & when that goes, Stewart, Dolac & Lake are there to seal the edges.
Speed where it matters. Instinct.
Landman has changed the whole look of this D over 1 short season.
Oh Jesus Fuck. Can't we just enjoy Landman outperforming his contract for a few games without stressing out about the future with him and what we need to pay him.
That was during the Georgia era - this is a completely different era - we keep the really good players (or the really bad players that no one else wants) and let the ones go that are decent but not great but will require a bigger cap hit than they want for that player. As far as situation goes, I see similarities between Land-Man and Marquez Pope.
The Rams picked up Marquez Pope for pocket lint from a third-rate garbage franchise and he instantly changed the defense with his physicality and aggressiveness. Dude was the Pounding Pontiff. Pope ended up among the team leaders in tackles. Unfortunately, the Rams didn't want to meet his contract demands and they let him walk after one year. He went on to have a pretty good career at places unmentionable.
Now we have Land-Man. I'm hoping he gets signed. I don't want the Rams to Pope on the Land-Man.
Reeder had a good game. And Reeder had a 90 PFF grade

I must have been watching a different game then.Reeder had a good game.
Credit where credit is due.
I only watched it with the sound off but I remember Reeder making a couple of big plays. One of the plays was on special teams.I must have been watching a different game then.
Oh, and by their numbers, Reeder had a better game than Land Man.
The defense improved a lot when Dolac came in for Reeder.
