Seemed to be very healthy and taken down by a mysterious illness in a couple of days. Life is precious and fleeting, hug your loved ones extra today.

RIP Kyle, 41 is way too young.

Just crazy. I am curious as to what it was that took him. I'm also not really a Nascar fan but certainly know he was one of the top racers. Way too young and I really feel for his family. RIP KB.

I'm not a NASCAR fan at all...but even I heard of Kyle Busch and knew he was a fantastic driver in that area.

May he rest in peace and paradise. Condolences to his loved ones as well.

I don't follow NASCAR or racing in general, but I do know the top drivers. It was surprising a guy who was relatively healthy and young could be taken by a mysterious illness. Hope it was something like Hantavirus. That would mean its more prevalent than reported.

From everything I've seen, it wasn't the hantavirus, and if it's not, we should all be fucking happy that it isn't that; we really don't want another pandemic, especially not so soon after Covid-19. He complained of a sinus infection, it got particularly bad enough to require hospitalization, and everything happened suddenly, which makes me think it's something like sepsis (which I've had a fair few times and nearly died from once).

I doubt it was that. He was in the driving simulator and became short of breath. If he was septic and they allowed that…someone is going to be in a lot of trouble.

I saw on a Reddit thread someone posted the dispatch notes of the call (from a scanner app) and it was reported as difficulty breathing. My guess is Pulmonary Embolism. If he had any kind of thrombus it could absolutely break loose hitting the G-Forces he hits in that simulator. Further, there are cases of extreme sinus infections that cause clots. Those two things line up…I’m certainly curious to see what the cause is determined

Kyle Busch passed away suddenly on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at the age of 41.The racing world was completely stunned by the tragic news, which was announced via a joint statement from the Busch family, NASCAR, and Richard Childress Racing (RCR).

Timeline of What HappenedThe events leading up to his unexpected death happened rapidly over the course of just a few days:

May 10 (Medical Request): During a Cup Series race at Watkins Glen, Busch radioed his crew to request that the track doctor meet him after the race. Broadcast teams noted he had been battling a worsening "sinus cold". He fought through the illness to finish eighth, his best Cup finish of the 2026 season.

May 15 (Final Race Victory): He competed at Dover Motor Speedway and won the Craftsman Truck Series race. In a heartbreakingly prophetic post-race interview, when asked why winning never gets old, he responded: "Because you never know when the last one is going to be."

May 20 (The Collapse): On Wednesday, Busch was at a racing simulator facility in Concord, North Carolina, when he suddenly became unresponsive. Emergency services rushed him to a hospital in Charlotte

.May 21 (Hospitalization and Passing): On Thursday morning, his family initially released a statement announcing he was hospitalized with a "severe illness" and would miss the upcoming Coca-Cola 600. Tragically, just a few hours later, he passed

I didn't catch the typo till now. I meant to say I hope it wasn't hantavirus. I worry someday there's a virus as deadly as Ebola and contagious as covid. That could be devastating for the whole world.

Sorry about the jumping on. Misunderstanding because of the typo, but I still should've known better. My bad, Snacks.

And yeah, another pandemic - only worse. It's something I'm deadly scared of. Not for me, really (I've actually never had Covid, and UTIs and stuff linked to those aside, I'm actually pretty healthy for the most part. Also, I'm in a medical group home, so they really have to be clean and not bring in pathogens - not even so much as an E-cig - into the house.), but for my family (who has all had Covid and are around people a lot).
