Saw them live when they opened for the Thompson Twins. Yes, they sucked. What was I doing at a Kajagoogoo/Thompson Twins concert you might ask? I was 33 and the 21 year old lady I was dating at the time was a big fan. The things we do for love. Ironically I ended up liking the Thompson Twins and took my wife to see them years later.

true story...way back when (31 years ago) I won tickets to an Air Supply concert...let me tell you those 2 tickets got me laid by 4 different girls in one week wanting to go to the concert with me. Ended up giving them to my older sisters boyfriend the day before the concert...told him to take her since her birthday was in less than a week.

Punched a guy out at a party one time for hassling this lady I worked with. She was so grateful that she asked me to take her to see Elvis at the Cow Palace in San Leandro, CA. She had two tickets and I guess they were hard to come by that close to the show. This was less than a year before he died.

I wasn't an Elvis fan then, nor am I now, but I agreed to go with her and he put on a great show that night. He came out in a white suit, all fat and sweaty, but worked his butt off on stage.

Two odd things about that night: 1) there was this guy standing right next to Elvis the whole show handing him scarves. Elvis would wipe his face with a scarf and then throw it into the crowd. The women would dive for the scarf while clawing, biting and punching each other. 2) They sold wine at the show that night. Every other time I'd seen a show at that venue they had guards practically strip searching you to to see if you had drugs or booze on you. RIP Elvis!

Great Story! Elvis at the Cow Palace. How appropriate. That place was a dump, but man, every big act played there back in the day.

I actually stayed a night in Elvis' suite at the Sahara Tahoe when I was a kid. That's where the Carpenters were playing (my mom and dad brought me the autographed picture of Karen and David). We were staying with artist friends who were friends of the owners. What a HUGE funky suite. I think I was about 14 or 15 and had the run of the place. It had a huge, red, heart shaped tub and IIRR a big round red bed. Never met the King but my sister got to see him when we lived in LA. She said he put on a hell of a show.

The wife and the boy went to Graceland a few years back and had a great time.

Elvis supposedly had a wicked sense of humor. Wonder if he would have found this funny?

I saw The Who, The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Rush, Van Halen & others there. Also, a couple of dirt bike races... It looks great in your pictures. I don't remember it like that. It was always a little hazy inside ;)

If so, he probably would have gotten a kick out of a band I've seen a couple times. They were called The Red Elvises.

A Russian band that did mostly rockabilly but also some Elvis tunes.

Every Saturday I'd go into a bakery in my local village and I'd get served by this one guy so I've always had a softer spot for his music than one probably should. I wouldn't say I'm a fan but I don't hate it:

Every once in awhile Shakira puts out a song that just drives me wild. Check out her and Rhianna's video Can't Remember to Forget You and you'll know what I mean.
