Not to dismiss BY’s talents because 12 sacks is still pretty damn good and that pressure rate is nothing to sneeze at. But I have to wonder how many times he was NOT one on one. I guess we should see a pretty big jump this year if so.
From what I recall off the top of my head, he had a good amount of double-teams. He was about 7-9% points behind Verse in that.

Absolutely true.

But it wasn't his job to beat double teams when AD was here. Or when Verse came aboard. And it won't be his job with Garrett.

He was 2nd or 1st (2025) in QBH the last 3 years. He led the defense in TFL last 2 years and was third as a rookie. He seems to play the run really well.

Is his knee okay? If it is, I think this is an easy "break out" year for Young. Whether that means the Rams resign him or let him walk it's a win for the Rams. Somebody would pay good money to Byron Young and probably enough to get a 3rd round comp pick. And if they resign him, it'll be because he had a breakout year, which is good for the Rams.

I thought a breakout season was when you make a big jump in production from mostly mediocre type season.
wouldn't 12 sacks and all the QB hits and all his other stuff equate to a breakout season already. I mean, what do you have to do. He was rated top 10 edge rusher. Plus, don't forget the Rams don't always let him rush the passer. He might improve on last year, but he has already broke out.
Now if Forbes has a top 10 season or more likely Fergy has a great season, that would be a break out season.

Me thinks people underestimate ol' BY. That kid is a stud. Soft spoken stud, but stud none the less. I see 15+ sacks from the dude this year.
Needs to stay healthy, which means they need to have a solid back up so he doesn't have to play 60 snaps a game. Stewart is that guy, but they need more depth to spell Garrett as well. Des Johnson needs to step up this year. He has played well in spots, but he has to stay healthy and be consistent.

If I recall he had 11 sacks in 13 games, then only 1 in their last 8 games including playoffs. The knee was a big issue.

DBs fell off a cliff during that time as well. Pass rush helps the coverage as much as coverage helps the pass rush
