Initially loved it because I thought it was a straight up swap. Now Im kinda meh with our 1st attached. Why would the Rams have to give up a 1st? Both are great players. Garrett is the better pass rusher but Verse is super young.

Don’t like the pick attached but love the player swap.

If it makes you feel better all of those draft picks are later in the round if not last in the first round next year. :)

I'm not so sure about this. Garrett is a HOFer, but he's also 30 years old. My concern is how much he has left in the tank. Hate trading an ascending player like Verse. But I get it. Verse isn't Garrett. Hopefully, Myles still has four or five great years left.

Rams we want to win now with Stafford.

That is a pretty steep price. Yeah, they're better at the position with Garrett. This year. But Garrett is 30 compared to Verse at 25. How many more premium years does he have? A first next year. A second and third the following year. I know they've been pretty good with the day 3 picks.

I'm a little apprehensive about it though. What if Verse reaches his full potential by the time he's 28 and becomes a premier pass rusher? While Garrett is slowing down and possibly just a situational pass rusher at 33?

I'm gonna enjoy it this year. But there is pressure for Superbowl or bust. If they win it then it was worth it. They gave up a lot for Stafford and it was worth it. Hopefully this is worth it.
And we go on. Miles may not be as good as Jared in 3 years but nothing is static - especially with this organization. I’ll worry about 3 years from now when it comes. It’s almost impossible to say what huge, ball busting moves they may make between now and then. I’m going to guess they just keep swinging for the fences.

People were talking about three or four first round picks for Garrett. To get him for only Verse, one first round pick, a second round pick in 2028 and a third round pick in 2029 is actually really good from the rams side. The rams will get those picks back in the form of comp picks most likely.

Well, they have a strong history of swinging for the fences. And it has worked out just about every time. So its hard to argue against it.

One thing that has me wondering though, is it possible the team felt Verse was hitting his ceiling? The knock on him is he's too one dimensional with mostly a power move. He hasn't worked other moves into his game. Maybe they felt that while he's pretty good as is, he's as good as he'll ever get?

As far as worrying about it down the road, I think I'm gonna just enjoy it this year and not think about 2029 or later. Heck, at my age who knows if I'll still be around by then.

We are a slim favorite over Seattle. We've improved the biggest weakness in a big way. Now we're even better with the front 4 even though we were pretty good there before the trade.
