Alright, lemme give you some background. I'm currently in the process of backing up all my work (I do this normally) but this is the first time I've run into this. I use a Mac, use to be a PC man but not anymore. So when I transitioned from PC to Mac, I partitioned my external HD into two parts. 1 Part, mac, the other part I left NTFS which is a format for windows to hold all my old files from my PC work days. Well, I've been keeping backups on my partitioned part for the backups/work however the other partition, has all my old files. I've recently stumbled upon a gold mine of my old work, and was just about to start transferring it over when I ran into the problem of not being able to delete these files off that partition. So my question is 1.) How do I delete these files? I already have the ones I wanna keep copied over to my first part, but I no longer need these on the second part. 2.) It does not allow me to delete them because the partition is NTFS, if that's so is there anyway to delete this partition? or is it basically stuck?

No way to upload an image using blue font...was trying to say you are talking Greek to me

Why not get another external hard drive? PC on one. Mac on the other. Weird thing is my son a couple hours ago was showing me his solid state EHDs he carries around. 1 terabyte and 3 terabytes. Amazing how this stuff has advanced.

I actually figured it out. but thanks for the try. I just so happened to have the version of OS that allows you to delete partitions and essentially reformat it. bnw the reason i didnt wanna go get another external is the fact I already have a second one, but I wanted to still use this and be able to use the space that was essentially dedicated for PC. I was able to erase that and repartition it for Mac use.

Well that didn't take long. I was going to suggest reformatting that partition, but you figured it out already.

I am a PC

Man...You took a bite out of thee Apple. MAC is a different beast there is so much that is not compatible with a reg PC. Have you tried looking for file converters?..

Only thing I feel like MAC is good for is media ie. Music, art.

His good buddy helped him out. Can't remember the guy's name. Handsome fella though.

well you did help, but I ended up finding a solid article on CNET about the new feature that I had with El Capitan that I didn't even know about. Wiped the second partition and then was able to change the format while keeping the space. But yes, you did help and you were and still are....a good friend.

The End.

I was the one who helped CNET.

Okay that's not even remotely true.

nah I don't encrypt but maybe I should? I believe I could've wiped the partition had it also been FAT.

I'm gonna look into this, i don't keep any bank documents or information of that kind on any of my computers (folks taught me to always keep physical documents filed) but I may want to look into it simply for design assets for clients.
