(Mike was also a WR guru and helped developed our own Isaac Bruce.)
I like Mike Martz, but this^ Just isn't True!! Bruuuce was doing his thing and doing it well Long before Martz ever joined the Rams!

I don't know what you know about Mike's background, but you clearly do not know that Mike's affiliation with the Horns predated Isaac's drafting.

From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Martz,

"In 1992 Martz was hired as quarterback coach for the Los Angeles Rams and held that post through 1994. In 1995, when team moved to St. Louis he was hired as wide receivers coach in 1995-96. Under his teaching Isaac Bruce exploded onto the NFL scene, going from 21 receptions in 1994 to 119 and 1781 yards in 1995. And Bruce was voted to his first Pro Bowl in 1996.

Martz left the Rams in 1997 to become quarterback coach at the Washington Redskins and helped develop Trent Green, who signed to be Rams QB in 1999, the season Martz was hired to be the offensive coordinator.

I would absolutely love! to have Mad Mike come aboard the U.S.S. Horns as a QB/receiving consultant. This guy helped to mold Isaac Bruce, Trent Green, Kurt Warner, and Marc Bulger . . . and that's just Rams players only. There isn't a greater disciple of Air Coryell's downfield game than Martz. Both Chris Weinke and Mike Groh would benefit in grossly positive fashion by having such an offensive mind as an invaluable resource.
Sadly I think we both know we are playing fantasy football of coaches! Lol

I will say Mike still has an affinity for the Rams but I don't see our FO or coaching staff ( Fisher) being open to it will the questioning of their authority or status quo.

Their authority or status quo fully deserves to be questioned on the offensive side if the ball. On special teams and defense, they are fine.

Actually Martz was Bruce's WR coach in 1995 and 1996.
OK. I didn't remember that. I was only looking at the time frame in which Martz was OC and HC.
Bruce was Drafted in 1994 but he didn't have any starts and only had 21 Rec's in 44 Targets for 272 yards. 1995-1996 he had 1781 yds. and 1338 yds. respectively!

Has a rookie qb ever had to deal with this much media input? He hasn't even played in a game yet lol

Why did the Rams invest so much capital in drafting a QB but fail to go the extra mile to get a great QB coach with an incredible record of developing QBs?

I don't think anyone can answer that question, even if they feel the Rams should have. Keep in mind Fisher was/is on the final year of his contract... not exactly an ideal landing spot for someone with a resume.

I don't know how good, or not, Weinke is as a QB coach. But I do know if I had a name that sounded like winkie, I woulda had trouble getting dates in my younger years.

This is odd, because I didn't thinkI'd find myself defending the coaching staff too much.

No one was clamoring for Frank Reich or John DeFillipo before Wentz came in and made them look like geniuses. Circumstances forced Wentz into the lineup and he's handled business very well.

Weinke ran a very well respected institution that prepared a lot of kids for their pro careers. I thought he was a pretty good outside-the-box hire, and I still do, because there hasn't been much to indicate otherwise. What talent has he worked with that's shown a regression since working with him? Foles? Keenum? Both were average before Weinke and in the case of Case, he might be playing better this year than ever before in his pro career.

I don't think Fish's reluctance to start Goff is in anyway a reflection of the job Weinke has done.

Interesting piece whereas it's not the first time it has been reported that the Goff decision was not Fisher's or Snead's, which is odd because who was it?
Does this explain Snead's low profile recently?
