I don't hunt , don't decide to allocate the time to it ,people do it and get a thrill from it for a reason that is primal as is the aversion.
I do however love to participate in falconry ,it's an amazing experience I recommend to any and all, it BTW taught me to not judge others for their pleasure from "the kill" it's as natural as surfing the web for porn.

Not a fan of hunting?
Nope. Maybe if it was life or death, but not for sport.
That's just me though, and I've already put it out there a year or so ago.

I hear ya, I'm in the same boat. I don't see the fun in it really. As long as people eat the meat though, I wont judge them.

Same here pretty much. If its going to get eaten I'm ok with it.

I will never understand guys who go fishing then release the fish. It does not compute. You go through all the trouble plus ruin the fishes day, and its mouth for a few days, and you don't eat it. What is the point? What part of it is fun?

I'm just too much of a softy to kill an animal that's just out eating breakfast to enjoy hunting. If it was for survival, all bets are off of course.

Taliban though... That's another case. :hehe:

This is a little twisted but I will confess......I like watching FLIR footage of ummmmm insurgents getting lit up by attack helicopters and such. It's great fun and a cheap way to amuse myself. I've actually laughed out loud at some stuff.

OK there I said it....... :lmao:

Because bass isn't tasty. I like to fish for bass sometimes because it's strategic and peaceful at the same time. Can't quite explain it.

Some fish are great fun to fight but taste like shit. Those are the fish that get released by me and my family. Some examples are sharks, bonita, and tarpon.

My boys also catch a ton of large mouth bass in the lakes around our house that they always release. Many folks eat those, but we prefer not to.

In more than one off shore fishing tournament, I have entered my boat with the false name of "Gaff and Release"... which I do to fuck with the over sensitive conservationist types. In case you don't get it... once you gaff a fish it is basically gonna die.

Most fish we catch are targeted for our dinner table, but sometimes we actually catch fish and allow them to fight another day.

We had a bunch of pilots give us some footage, some of it is pretty cool. I think the coolest one I saw was on YouTube though, two pilots stumble across a Taliban camp and just lay waste to about 20 or so guys. One of them is laying on the side of the hill trying to hide and the 30MM hits him with a direct hit, it's pretty awesome. I don't feel bad for them at all honestly, my girlfriend even thinks it's funny. She may be a little twisted too though, because she likes to watch old helmet cam footage of mine in firefights and such and fall asleep to the sound of the shooting. :whome?:

Unless of course it's a gar, which seem to be indestructible.
I've watched shows where bow fishermen shoot gar and then pull the arrow through and show scars on the fish where it's been shot before.

I caught a bonita once, the guides wanted around $270 to have it mounted ,I passed so they cut it up for bait.

Yeah, bonita makes a great bait. The bellies are prized baits in some situations. Very bloody fish. Some people call them false tuna... they are in the tuna family. We catch them all the time when we are trolling for dolphin and wahoo. They get in with the yellow fin tuna schools too. The bastards can fight like hell,,, and make you think you got a quality fish on... but then the fucker reveals himself.

I don't eat fish, i hate the texture. But i fish my ass off. Sometimes, yes, the fish gets injured. Most cases, the hook goes through nerveless flesh. I just enjoy the peace, and strategy. And i agree with ThorDaddy, the "kill" is a natural primal instinct. We are, afterall, animals. For me personally the rush of putting down such a big animal as a deer, is just more exciting than anything ive experianced. I harvest the meat myself, my father in law tans the hide and makes things with them. We use antlers for knife handles as well as tools to draw them in. We respect the animal and are very thankful for what we get in return. I hate poachers, and i hate people who kill for the rack and leave the body.

I'm good with that deer part for sure.

The fishing part I will never understand. If I'm going through the trouble I'm gonna eat em.

I have a friend who does taxidermy who shot a Kodiak bear that stood sumtnin' like 10 feet tall, he brought it home and stuffed it ,by the time he paid for all the costs, he ended up selling it cuz he needed the money.
All he has now are the pictures.
