Not a fan of hunting?
That's just me though, and I've already put it out there a year or so ago.
I hear ya, I'm in the same boat. I don't see the fun in it really. As long as people eat the meat though, I wont judge them.

Taliban though... That's another case. :hehe:
Because bass isn't tasty. I like to fish for bass sometimes because it's strategic and peaceful at the same time. Can't quite explain it.LesBaker said:bluecoconuts said:X said:Nope. Maybe if it was life or death, but not for sport.bluecoconuts said:X said:Certainly WAS a majestic creature. :neh:

Same here pretty much. If its going to get eaten I'm ok with it.
I will never understand guys who go fishing then release the fish. It does not compute. You go through all the trouble plus ruin the fishes day, and its mouth for a few days, and you don't eat it. What is the point? What part of it is fun?
Selassie I said:Some fish are great fun to fight but taste like shit. Those are the fish that get released by me and my family. Some examples are sharks, bonita, and tarpon.
My boys also catch a ton of large mouth bass in the lakes around our house that they always release. Many folks eat those, but we prefer not to.
In more than one off shore fishing tournament, I have entered my boat with the false name of "Gaff and Release"... which I do to fuck with the over sensitive conservationist types. In case you don't get it... once you gaff a fish it is basically gonna die.
Most fish we catch are targeted for our dinner table, but sometimes we actually catch fish and allow them to fight another day.

This is a little twisted but I will confess......I like watching FLIR footage of ummmmm insurgents getting lit up by attack helicopters and such. It's great fun and a cheap way to amuse myself. I've actually laughed out loud at some stuff.
OK there I said it....... :lmao:
Unless of course it's a gar, which seem to be indestructible.LesBaker said:Selassie I said:Some fish are great fun to fight but taste like shit. Those are the fish that get released by me and my family. Some examples are sharks, bonita, and tarpon.

I just enjoy the peace, and strategy. And i agree with ThorDaddy, the "kill" is a natural primal instinct. We are, afterall, animals. For me personally the rush of putting down such a big animal as a deer, is just more exciting than anything ive experianced. I harvest the meat myself, my father in law tans the hide and makes things with them. We use antlers for knife handles as well as tools to draw them in. We respect the animal and are very thankful for what we get in return. I hate poachers, and i hate people who kill for the rack and leave the body.
Then you never cleaned one either, I guess.LesBaker said:El Juggernauto said:I don't eat fish, i hate the texture. But i fish my ass off. Sometimes, yes, the fish gets injured. I'm good with that deer part for sure.
The fishing part I will never understand. If I'm going through the trouble I'm gonna eat em.

That's the sucky part for sure.
Selassie I said:Yeah, bonita makes a great bait. The bellies are prized baits in some situations. Very bloody fish. Some people call them false tuna... they are in the tuna family. We catch them all the time when we are trolling for dolphin and wahoo. They get in with the yellow fin tuna schools too. The bastards can fight like hell,,, and make you think you got a quality fish on... but then the fucker reveals himself.
