I thought the exact opposite. I thought Goff kept them in the game with some key misses and thought we left some points on the field. We let them scrape back late in the game but to be honest, i never thought the Rams were really ever in jeopardy of losing.

Rams put up 30 points and our QB was off and our RB didnt make much of an impact till later. Also factor in that Donald was not himself. If you also add to the fact that the Rams traveled to the other coast. I thought the Rams out played Carolina most of this game.

It could of been a blowout. I like how the Rams played for a week 1 road game.

Headline should be: Panthers somehow only lost 30-27

Okay, without reading any of your responses; here's the problem with this take. The first string offense and defense hadn't played a single preseason game. We started off sloppy just like we did against the Raiders last year. I'm not saying its nothing to be concerned about; but damn it does matter. Especially when you start off on the road? So you mean to tell me, the Panthers who were at home, never lead, had 30 points hung on them and still lost; is the better team?

How many mental hula hoops do you have to do to trick yourself into believing that. Goff had an off day, aside from Woods and Kupp the offense as a whole had an off day. Aaron Donald was largely shut down for an entire game. On someone else's field, and the home team still lost; and never lead. Can somebody please, explain to me how this article could be justified in any way shape or form? I notice they brought up Newton's rust, but not Goff's? I'm just like...

Carolina is a different animal at home. Their record over the last 5 years states this. (27-13 over the past 5 years....). But we won. McCaffrey might be the best all purpose RB in football right now (debatable...). But we won... We didn't play overly well yesterday and did leave points on the field. But we won.
Are we seeing a trend yet?

Listen, there were four fumbles in the game, and the Rams recovered all four of them. That's unusual.

That said, Goff just missed a few passes and CMC is pretty tough to defend. Luck is always part of the equation in the NFL.

I said this in the game thread and will say it now again for the second time on the board in different threads.

He reminds me of MFaulk. Slightly different body types, but essentially the same height and weight.

And the feet and vision and balance.

Whoa..........

Ridiculous. I hate when people get caught up in the final score. We were winning the entire game. I don’t know how the better team could have never been ahead but ok you can push your narrative.

Except Gurley is the best all-purpose back in football now and has been-
Since 2017, Gurley has scored more touchdowns
Caught more passes
Run more
Pass protected better
Is bigger and faster

I get giving props to players on other teams, but, Gurley has been better.

I will have no idea who the Rams will be until week 3-4 this year...they have to make some big changes to put up 27 on the Saints. If they stop Kamara, and 'properly' double Thomas they will beat the Saints.....oops, NOteboom and Allen have to play as well as they did against Panthers, too---which will not be hard.

Eli Apple is still bad, and so is the other corner, and Lattimore, is good of course. Davenport at DE is coming on....but Hav and Whit should be up to the task.

.

Well, the column is called Monday morning optimist. Of course he's gonna look at the bright side of a loss where those fucks were never really in the game when the rams hardly played their best football.

They can put 27 points up on those fucks with their eyes closed.

Sure, the game "seemed" close. But if not for a blocked punt (to Carolina's credit) and a very late TD when the Rams were in prevent defense after the 2 minute warning, I didn't think the game was that close.

Good news....McVay made a strange choice of two, Goff looked rusty and missed open receiver, Zuerline missed a FG, a punt (or two) were blocked....Rams put up 30 points and Gurley averaged 7 yards per carry against a team with a good front seven.

Bad news.....the Rams D seemed to tire and gave up 24 second half points.
