The Phillies need to blow it up . Too many streaky guys that just don't hit consistently, especially in the playoffs. And really most guys are avg or worse offensively. Only Harper & Schwarber are above avg offensive players and they are streaky. They wasted a great starting staff, with a piss poor offense and a weak at best bullpen.
They scored 1 run or less 36 times, that includes 12 shutouts. Yikes.
By comparison the Dodgers scored 1 run or less 18 times and were shutout 3 times.

The Yankees scored 1 run or less 28 times. They were shutout 8 times and went 2-18 when scoring 1 run.
What I find interesting is the Phillies and Red Sox both fired their managers early on and made the playoffs.
Boston (Cora 10-17; Tracey 77-58)
Philly (Thompson 9-19; Mattingley 79-55)
I wonder if that has ever happened like that (twice)?
I can remember Martin getting fired and Lemon taking over in 1978. Martin (52-42), Howser (0-1), Lemon (48-20)

Yeah, I heard that when they let Thompson go. The piece I heard was they tried to hire Cora and then that Mattingley was there for this year and they were going after Cora for 2027.
I don't follow the AL as much. I knew nothing about Drew Rasmussen. Apparently he's pretty good. 7 no hit innings today. Lost the no hitter in the 8th when Austin Wells hit a double. But he was thrown out at 3rd trying to stretch it to a triple. As dominant as Rasmussen has been, Yankees are only down one run. Still have a shot at this one.
3 games in the books. White Sox, Dodgers and Rays up 1-0. White Sox were the road team. So they already accomplished what they wanted to. Steal a game on the road. Now they have a chance to put a lot of pressure on Cleveland. Braves and Yankees still have a chance to steal a road game.
Playoffs are a whole different ball game. Misiorowski was dominant all season. He was at almost 60 pitches through two innings. 33 pitches in the second inning. 4 hits a walk and 2 runs in two innings. I don't see him going past 5 innings.

Another close one in Milwaukee. Typical playoff game. Not much hitting. 5 combined hits in 6 innings. Not sure who I want to win. SD has been the hottest team down the stretch. But being a rival I don't usually pull for them. Brewers have 3 errors in this game.

The Padres at least put it off another day. I'm hoping the Yankees watched that game!!!
