The 73-99 jerseys should have been the 73-til the end of time jerseys. THATS the colossal fuck up.
I think those are my favorites too.. There were some slight variations with the numbers in the 70's with some years having the white borders on the numbers and the aways with the gold borders.... Which I really dig

That would be the last time the brand was widely considered iconic, I agree. Iconic by all fans of football.

The move East in ‘95 makes changing it understandable. I get it.

The move back to LA in ‘16 was the crossroad. IMO the classic brand you refer to probably should have just been brought back or tweaked a tad. I remember something about the Rams not being able to change the uni in ‘16 and having to legally wait or something?

The vendors had to be allowed to deplete a certain percentage of stock before the Rams could officially change the jerseys, which is why we were stuck with the awful navy blue and Vegas gold St. Louis things.

This always came to mind when having to see those unis :sick2:

Unfortunately, those white and gold borders around the numbers Never actually made it to the field.

Not sure the Rams need to keep fucking around with their brand every 5-10 years.

We need more fans, that’s a fact.

The teams with the largest fan bases have been consistent with the logos and to a more subtle degree the uni’s. That’s what makes a logo and uni iconic. Decades of the same instantly recognizable and timeless design. A brand with history. Minor tweaks aside. The examples are many and obvious. I won’t paste their logos in here.

My opinion is that the Rams really blew it with the brand that was rolled out a few years back. Soft looking.

Anyway, no matter the opinion on the newest current LA brand, the Rams need to stick with it…or find something better quick and LET IT RIDE. Build the brand. Don’t reinvent it frequently.
The teams with the largest fan bases also have not moved halfway across the country twice in the last 30 years. LA will never.... EVER be a football city, but it appears they are at least building a fan base again since being back. Keeping your favorite jerseys wouldn't have made any difference at all in that endeavor.... Just my opinion.

A football city? Maybe not. But the Rams were routinely in around the top of the league for attendance before Georgia took over. If I recall right, they averaged over 60k per game up until the last couple seasons or so. And some of that was playing in the absolute worst venue in the NFL - the Big A. The Coliseum was HUGE and still they packed them in virtually every time I went there. And they were almost all Rams fans. If you lived in LA during the 70's and 80's, the Rams were everywhere. TV shows, movies, commercials, etc... Hell - I even went to an alumni basketball game at Cleveland HS where the Rams played basketball against a bunch of HS alums. The Rams were big in LA.

I saw that in the images they were stitched which also surprised me. The 2020-2023 Vapor Limited's were stitched until they came out with 2024 FUSE models which are heat pressed.... and I will not buy heat pressed jerseys.... Especially for $180.
That's the one I'm talking about. The Fuse version (sorry confused it with Vapor) of the Midnight Mode jerseys is stitched vs our regular jerseys that are also FUSE. Not sure why that is but stitched is way better and cleaner looking. Hate that Nike and the NFL went the route heat pressed route.

I’d love if they did a matte blue helmet, then blue jerseys, solid letters, horn on sleeve, then I could care less between the blue or yellow pants. Maybe leaning towards the yellow? I just don’t like the gradient look and certainly need to see some horns on the sleeves.

An all white and blue would be a great throwback

I wonder how the wider horns would look on the newer, sleeker helmets. I’d be ok with the current width of the horns without the break in them.
Yeah when comparing the "65 helmet's horn origination point in the front, the older one looks like it starts closer to the middle of the helmet than the newer, and latest versions do. The end of the horn on the older version also curls around the ear hole more noticeably.
The newer of these 3 is my least fave.

I never liked the Nike sales propaganda deal they made with the NFL. I like the “old” uniforms and colors just fine and don’t buy new jerseys every year.

Rams colors do not include black, I don’t like the blue shoulders they added, I won’t be buying anything in this scheme.

To each his own

Yeah to each his own. There's plenty of people who like the black uniforms, or the gradients, or broken horns, or whatever. That's all fine and good. But there are also plenty of people who don't.

What I don't get is why Demoff chose to embrace controversy. It's a business to sell merchandise. Why would you not cater to a large chunk of your fanbase? I like the classic Fergamos and to a lesser extent the blue and white from the 60s. I've got money to buy gear and the Rams just don't want my money for some reason. Heck, even the Dolphins have a classic throwback uniform to go along with their Nike rebrand. I'd have been happy with that.

I guess it just means more money for Coke.

We had the best helmets too. Those should’ve been off limits.
The whole deal my friend. Down to the stripe going down the side of their pants. I could not stand the gold Stl pans without the stripe.
That stupid parting line in our current helmets is the worst.
Even after we switched in Stl we went back to the 99s for the throwbacks.

I like the 50's helmets because they had the widest horns and they met in the middle of the helmet.... looked meaner IMO.

I also like the Rams late 50's unis, I will occasionally wear them to games, but we will never see those again unfortunately. My pops was a big Dick Bass and Bob Waterfield fan.... my dad said Bob Waterfield changed the game and was his favorite athlete when he first came to America from Portugal.

I'm not so sure

meaning..............

I actually do like the new horns , would I go back to the old horn ?

, yes , if they went back to the 70's versions

but somewhere along the line , I think it started in St Louis , for some reason , the horns started to get skinnier and skinner , and there towards the end , I ended up actually hating the horn , they didn't even look like horns anymore , they looked more like a piece of Christmas tinsel that got to close to the heat
