I merged all three Mevis threads into one that should be all encompassing as he's a FUCKING KICKER!!! We don't need three threads on the subject.
Merged 'em right down the middle. It's good!

Because no sane team would have two active kickers on gameday. Too many other more important positions to make sure we have depth at.
What sane team runs 13 personnel outside of short yardage situations? Just because no other team is doing it doesn't mean it's necessarily insane.

But I happen to agree with you.
One thing I'm certain, we should never let our Field Goal Operation kicker ever execute the Dirty Ball Kick off technique again.

You'd think a skill position player could be taught the Dirty ball kick off technique....
I bet half the team can do an ugly kick-off.

9/9 on XP, 32 yard kicks. Not quite the chip shot XP they used to be. He looks confident. Curious what they do with Karty, cutting him does present a big risk
They will have to cut him after this week. Mevis so far, so good, even though no FG attempts. Overall with addition of McQuaide & Mevis, M&M are not melting and I expect after this week, the do release Karty. If he does not get claimed, Rams can bring Karty back to the PS, although, Karty might be offered another PS where he might want to try, but presently, I am liking what Mevis is bringing to the table.

Not sure about that. Thing with Karty is he has 2+ more years of cheap contract where Mevis will be a FA. I could see a non contender claiming Karty on waivers (like the Jets) since they dont have a long term solution of their own
I wonder if they give Karty one last shot, maybe against Carolina or Arizona if Mevis has another solid outing vs Tampa

Yeah, I'd hate to see us cut Karty. If he figures it out, he can be a damn good kicker.

I think cut him.

I'm sorry it's bad enough paying TuTu $10 mil then having to pay a practice squad kicker $1mil.

can we at least kick it short of the end zone please? I get that the dirty kicks might have messed Karty up, and that we risk a return - but I do not like the opponent starting at the 35 every drive
I agree here, why can't Evans practice kicking it short or will that mess up his punting? Not sure why other teams are being able to do it without it effecting their kicker. But then again, they don't have Chase Blackburn as their special team coach.

it may be that they don't fully trust kickoff coverage and McV would rather trot out his defense out there at the 35 than let the special teams give up something worse.

Forget field goals, we go for it.

Forget kick off team - we boot it thru the endzone.

Focus on our KO return, punt return, PAT, and punt team. Simplify special teams.

I suspect you're right here. The game against the whiners, we had one kick in the landing zone and it was returned I believe to the 38.
