Rams gave up too much to KC.... I think we could have gotten him without giving up a 1st rounder. Hopefully he works out and stays injury free.

I'm hoping the Rams stack the offense, as it appears finding a Stafford replacement is off the table, so that means trying to sign Garoppolo is very important. Only thing that Rams need on defense is a LB that is good in coverage. (Devin Lloyd) if he will accept a 2 year deal at $40 mil I think he is well worth a crack at.
Well D E 22 ,I can say a lot on this..
This article gives more of a draft view of The Rams needs.I think I saw another as well that would disagree on The Rams trade.
-There are others that give The Rams an A for there offseason.

I was hoping the Rams were going to keep their 27th pick and use it as a piece to trade up for the #1 pick and get a QB, ya a long shot, but when the Rams signed the second KC DB, the thought of losing that 27th pick made sense. I was surprised the Rams FO opened the wallet that much for the two KC DB's.... Especially when the Rams at the beginning of last season didn't spend that much on the whole defense and ST's combined. But I'm glad they went the FA route for defense, because the impact needed to be immediate, and with Stafford getting towards the end of his career, immediate returns is definitely the operative word especially with the 2 year window the Rams have with Stafford in getting another trophy.

So the hope is now:

  • Stud LB great in coverage in FA.
  • Stud WR 13th pick.
  • And find a suitable back up for Stafford if Garropolo bails.

Trade up for the #1 pick for a QB? I think there was exactly 0% chance of that this year.

That may be true

But prior to the Goff trade, 99% of Rams fan thought that would happen.

I swear I am going to call you Dr Jekyll.

A lot of your posts I agree with and then you post this

Um what? Trade 27 and 13 for Number 1? No way in the world that was going to happen with the Raiders huge need for a QB.

That was a few weeks back and maybe add a few players to those picks. All water under the bridge now.

It now appears the Rams are going to ride Stafford until all four wheels fall off.... So probably two more years if the Texas Trigger stays healthy.... which I'm good with even if Stafford falls off a little he is still better than most NFL QB's.

So we over paid in the trade for McDuffie who we desperately needed and is a huge upgrade because we didn't trade that pick for Mendoza. Without the consideration that the Raiders were never going to trade the 1st pick. Yeah add this to the list of terrible takes.

I don't feel we over paid.... just paid more than I thought.... Nice to see the Rams open their wallet some on D. Something they hadn't done in awhile. But I was happy to see them extend Lake and Landman as well which I was expecting either.

I never said the Rams would in regards to Mendoza, it was just something I would throw out there because I am worried about Stafford getting injured.... and we all should be. Stafford goes down, so does the Rams season..... especially if Stetson is the #2 guy.

And get over yourself... don't act like everything you throw out there is so immaculate and full of logic, because sometimes you brush it with pieces of statical analyses that only means well on paper, but more times than not shows up differently when players actually go and chew grass.

Sometimes you act like every take you have thrown out there has panned out, and I'm sorry to inform you it hasn't. Doesn't mean all those takes are terrible or outlandish... I just view them as your own view.

here's a take...

we're a lot better today than we were at the end of last year...

argue me that batman...

and thank you les and sean, i hate to admit it, butyou guys are a lot better than me at team building.. ;)

go rams

slo
On paper definitely yes!!!!

I'm normally not overly excited about defense as I am more about the offense and running up the scoreboard. But I'm looking forward to watching the defense next season.... But hopefully not too much...... If I'm seeing too much of the defense that means one of two things...

A) The Rams offense is scoring every three minutes (a good thing)
B) The Defense can't get off the field (a bad thing)

I will agree that the Rams have a habit of giving long sustaining drives to their opponents offset by their own long sustaining drives.

I definitely want to see more man to man with a blitz thrown in a lot more frequently.

How frequent? Depends on how well we get to the QB without blitzes.

I agree

We do need figure out the blitzing aspect. If we could have blitzed a few times during the Championship game, it could have flustered Donald some, because he's a bad QB when he's pressured. We just let him sit back all day and pick apart the secondary.

He does NOT realize that! Posts the same repetitive shut over and over and he isn't convincing anyone of his viewpoints. His comments can be considered comical if you don't take them seriously.

I’m pretty sure the few times we got to Darnold in the NFC Championship game there was a blitz.

We did blitz Darnold occasionally in the game and that was the only times we got pressure on him. I would have liked the Rams to pressure Darnold probably twice as much in that game. Enough times to keep him on his toes but not enough to expect it coming.

The Rams upgraded, massively, the team's biggest weakness.. still have cap space.. and a full compliment of draft picks.

To add to an excellent, young, core.

They'll figure out the future QB thing when they need to.
