Yeah maybe, but I just don't like the telegraphing of what he's actually willing to trade. Why not just say, open for business to improve the team without mentioning which actual picks? I don't agree that teams won't be able to use that to try to take advantage of what they can try to get from Snead. Does it mean they'll actually get it? Definitely not. Guess I just don't see any benefit whatsoever to mentioning the 1st pick. Maybe I'm wrong but just stating my feelings about it honestly. In the end, I'll probably just be my usual Rams self and be happy that we're improving the team. Not like Snead gonna listen to me anyways hahahaha. Besides he's been great for us so I'm just discussing what I see here. I'm one that thinks Snead could have done better in the trade department. I'm not gonna agree that he fleeced tons of teams, he's done just fine though (Falcons I do agree lol). He's definitely drafted well though, that's undeniable. There's trades that sucked ass like Ernest Jones and Jalen Ramsey where he should have gotten more. I feel like Snead goes just a bit heavy handed to get what the team wants but I suppose that's to ensure that transaction. Glad the trade didn't go down for Brian Burns too. In the end, I wouldn't want to have any other GM so I'm basically nit-picking and giving my view. I just want a good ass player without giving up too much, I think we can all agree that'll be ideal.Love your posts Chapo, but I think you are worrying needlessly on this one. IMO Snead said nothing more than any other GM would say. Snead is basically saying, "any of our players could be traded. Any of our draft picks could be traded." Every team in the NFL knows that every player and every pick has a price.
IMO Snead has fleeced tons of teams over the years. Giving up RG3 for three 1sts and a 2nd. Trading up for Goff and turning around the franchise. Getting Stafford. Getting Ramsey and then Miller for the Lombardi. A whole bunch of minor trades in 2023 and 2024 that led to tons of monster picks (Puka, Turner, Avila, Young, Corum, Verse, the list goes on and on). Then last year, Fleecing the Falcons so they could waste it on a felon while we get an extra first rounder.
Snead has done a ton of trades to make the Rams hugely successful over the last decade. His vague comment about "being willing to part with a it's rounder for the right player" doesn't give any team any team any insider info or any negotiating leverage, IMO. Nothing more than a general statement saying he's open for business.
