Watching this, a few things seem a little clearer to me.

1. They are not drafting a QB high. If Jimmy stays, probably not drafting a QB at all except maybe one real late.

2. They will do everything they can to maximize this roster while Stafford is here.

3. When asked about Jimmy Lake being the CB coach, he stressed that he is aligned with him & Shula. Makes me think there may have been disagreements on secondary scheme between Pleasant & Shula? Maybe?

4. Don't count on 13 personnel being as prevalent this coming season. All depends on the roster make up and depth at TE/WR.

5. Definitely will be incorporating some of Kingsbury's offense to some degree.

BTW, I hope that doesnt mean we become too pass happy. I credit LaFleur for bringing that physical SF rushing attack here. Will it stay here?

Reactions: Memphis Ram
I'm not a fan of him talking about what they are willing to trade in the media. To me this is why Snead almost never pulls one over on another team. Why broadcast that they'd be willing to trade a 1st? If I was a rival GM, I wouldn't just ask the Rams for anything less but in fact for probably more.
Because Snead isn't saying something that isn't obvious or can't be gleaned by other means. No need to waste energy on being purposefully obtuse. That energy is better placed into - say - scouting.

What and how they incorporated Kingsbury will be interesting: could they pick up some of his quick game/tempo in both play calls and routes run? Will we see less condensed sets or different spacing when we go spread, possible, just a little.

Kingsbury has a very static offense - WR's tend to just play one side of the field and that's it - so there's a lot of stuff they're gonna leave on the dust pile. (I don't think the benefit of this approach outweighs the negatives).

He's literally saying he's willing to trade a 1st, that's not something he needs to say. Now GMs know the minimum to take from him. Not smart negotiating ahead of time imo.

This would only matter if he was negotiating with morons. And then if he was the benefits far outweigh the negatives.

I think that's a bit much ado about nothing. If there is one thing teams know about Snead it's that practically nothing is off the table. Before he said it, did you think any draft pick was off the table? I sure didn't. If anything, it probably makes other GMs more apt to pick up the phone in a hurry if Les is calling.

There seems to be this narrative among Rams fans that Snead constantly gets fleeced in negotiations. I don't buy it. I think he goes in knowing what he is willing to give for what he wants in return. Sometimes that means giving more than fans think he should. I'm sure ATL fans thought just the opposite last year.

There is a reason Les is considered by virtually everyone as one of the top GMs in the league.
