Simpson needs snaps period since he only started in 15 games during his college career. I can see him and Bennett being rotated in during the preseason. How that's worked out will be interesting.

Is it possible that is wasn't really a good point to compare the situation of an established veteran QB or even other positions with two young QBs who are competing for a backup spot and needing as many game reps as they can possible get?

Or did you not see both Brett Rypien and Stetson Bennett play in all three preseason games in 2023?
And in 2022 Jon Wolford played in a one (missed 1st due to injury) with Bryce Perkins playing in all 3.
I thought my post did a good job of addressing that two things were true, that it was a good point AND my thoughts that it could also change with Ty needing snaps in preseason due to his unique situation comparatively.

Is it possible there wasn't a careful reading of my post or that @dieterbrock could make a good point AND there could be a caveat?

Not directing this at you but this board is going to an absolute cesspool once Stafford retires. I don't think there's gonna be much room for strong but reasonable - or well reasoned - opinions about Ty Simpson unless it's that the sun rises out of his ass (but don't dare say the West).

Perhaps the only thing a slim majority of people on here will agree on is taking the most wait and see approach of wait and see approaches but I suspect even that idea will see outlandish to some.

Will McVay play Simpson in pre season? I'm not so sure. Caldwell and Bennett probably play those games.

Seriously? So you think in 16 years this site has not dealt with a pick that didn't work out or a player that created disagreement? Get over yourself.

Sorry. I didn't think your post did because the good point fascinatingly lost by some posters didn't seem to apply to the topic at hand.

And quite frankly, I believe the vast majority, if not all, people on here are taking a wait and see approach on Simpson. But, when someone posts how certain things (development) must happen on their perceived timetable one should expect some objective push back.

Ty Simpson will be the next Franchise Quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams. As it is the great Sean McVay's FIRST handpicked 1st Round potential Franchise Quarterback (Bennett, 4th Round doesn't apply) we should all be excited and confident we got a good one.

Saying if Simpson doesn't make QB2 by September its a problem, and we wasted "prominent draft capital," or things similar to the sort, is a gross exaggeration and misguided take, whether consciously or subconsciously, in my HUMBLE opinion, of course.

Where it comes to Ty, the "long game" is definitely in play here. Thought this was known, throughout the whole league, pre-draft.

Reality is The Rams are asking Ty Simpson to Dig Into The Playbook.
That’s his first step & basically fit into The Team & QB room.

His play will speak for itself, but his experience isn’t what’s gotten him to this point.

What The Rams know is he is a good kid who is going to work hard ,and will do what’s asked of him.

Am example is LYING to The PRESS for Starters.

Wide Receivers with single-digit-numbers ... that's going to upset some people ... I can think of two ...

LMFAO - Mumpfield is ?? What does
Davonte Adams call him ?? He has a Nick-name. He also showed he can get on the Field in Key Games & Situations.(think Mcvay trust him). What he needs NOW is to produce.

Whittington is taking 3rd team Reps SO I’d say he is holding onto that spot for now ? Really don’t know what the CRYSTAL BALL says?

I do like Jordan though,he’s going into his 3rd season, and think both these WR’s have a lot of upside still.

The Tight Ends are going to take a lot of those 3 WR’ Reps in 2026.That I can just about guy U!!!

LOL - NUMBER 4 !! Tutu went from 15 to #5 .
Mumpfield was #15 last Season!!

The Number #4 is Mumpfield’s New Jersey number.Hopefully it comes with better newer look in his game(stats). Which IMO it will.He actually is a STEAL from the 2025 Draft.

All TBD no matter where you stand. Will be some time before we know much of anything.

That is a fact. I only thing i've disputed is the rapidity of his ascension to QB2 being ultra meaningful.

#no freak-outs from me about Ty until year 2 minimun.

It's the same stance I took with Goff way back in 2016, and im glad i did.

And trust me, if Simpson doesn't improve to my liking by year 2, i WILL get on his ass about it. Call it as I see it.
