If they acknowledged they had met with him it didn't mean they thought he had "superior football IQ to be an upper echelon signal caller". It would just mean they met with him. All this talk about McVay playing chess vs the checkers the rest of the league is playing is overblown. The Rams got paranoid and didn't want STAFFORD to know. This wasn't about the other teams. No one was going to trade up to 12 or under to take Simpson. No way. We all know it'll take 2-3 years until we know if this was a wise move or not. So let's put the brakes on the Svengali thing for McVay.

What cheap shot have I taken? I've said I expect him to win the QB 2 job by end of camp (perhaps I should say start of season) which suggests I believe he's got the ability and talent to immediately become our QB 2 especially over a supremely lesser talent in Bennett.

And I've said that if he can't do that then it suggests larger problems with him and a lower floor than what McSnead expect and that that variable alone should suggest we keep looking for a future QB.

There's no cheap shot, there is hyperbole on your part due to some anxieties you have about making an argument or when people aren't genuflecting about Simpson morning, noon and night.

Plus he is going into his 4th season as a Ram & most of 2025 training camp was taking 2nd string Reps!!

Then has 2 NATTY’s which in itself shows at the least being a winner.

Agree that Bennett improving or any player for that matter improving is good for the Rams. With that said, no matter how you slice it, you sure are pretty damn protective of anything coming Simpson's way or taking it more personal than it needs to be. You don't have to throw verbal jabs at everyone that has a way different take but if ya do so be it. I'm mostly enjoying my popcorn with these conversations because there's nothing else to do until they really start the season (training camp is kinda what I mean by that). Simpson will get his chance to show his wares and so will Bennett. Can't wait for those reports from our awesome camp folks here along with some hopefully nice pics of our lovely cheerleaders too hahahaha

I did make it to Dallas -Rams scrimmage last season,SO there’s that.Which was cool,but could only see the defense practice basically.

Stetson did look ok from a distance.Dotson & his Yellow Fro stuck out . Parsons was there & talks The Rams could trade for him.
His price was a little steep.

My Boy Troy Reeder showed up!! He did beat out POO-bear, Shawn Dolac did show he was the better LBer as well. I did say that much.

2026 is a totally NEW season & who that LBer is going to make The Rams roster.The Bama UDRFA could be that guy. Think Speight is a Starter as well ?? Shows there is a CHANCE for a player to Step up there ?

I’m looking forward to The Rams 4th string QB to get Reps. Who knows in 2027 he could be the backup to Ty Simpson ?? That is really looking forward.

Starting game 1 of pre-season isnt really a good thing. How many snaps did Garoppolo take in pre-season last year? The LESS one plays in McVay pre-season says more about where they stand with the team

Maybe. Maybe not.

But the difference is there wasn't a competition between Garoppolo or Bennett.
That may or may not be the case with Simpson and Bennett.
This time it may be that the less one plays in the final preseason game may be the tell.
