I think that during the game McVay is not keeping tabs on which running back is in the game.
He's got bigger worries.

A general RB rotation strategy is probably agreed on before the game, and in game rotation adjustments are most likely delegated to someone else. That's probably why McVay's answer is vague. He probably doesn't know why Akers was only in one series and he won't know why exactly until he sits down with his assistants on Monday.

He claimed not to know about Gurley last year...may be the RB coach’s call.

I don't really care what he says about it, not going to waste my time analyzing it. It was a fuck up on his part, but fortunately, I think he realizes that.

I'm thinking maybe we aren't who we thought we were. Face it, the 4 teams we beat have a whopping 5 wins between them all. The one with two wins beat one win teams for those wins. Its still early but I'm thinking maybe I should taper my expectations. They might be what I thought before the season began. Not a Superbowl caliber team but a playoff contender. There are a few teams in the NFC we can't beat. Can we win enough to make the playoffs? Time will tell.

I would think McVay has plays specifically tailored to each of the RB’s strengths. I saw us take a run first approach in Buff after the first half, not as much in this game. I do think Sean can be “snowed” a little bit by people who know how he thinks. He can be lured into being pass happy, by defense giving him a favorable look. Running successfully is THE only thing that makes Sean’s offense successful. When it’s all on Jared’s shoulders well, he is getting better at it, but it’s like running on 6 cylinders instead of 8.

We never had 1st and goal from the 1 yard line....

We had First and goal on the 8.... Henderson gained 7 years... then he went -1.... so its 3rd and 2 from the 2....

McVay calls a play that works easily and Kupp drops the ball....now its 4th down.

Okay - thanks - first off I Hate Copper Kupp as a Punt returner.

Wow - 2nd & goal from the 1. Thought! he got a 1st dwn. I believe Collinsworth thought the same.

Went for it on 4th dwn? Crazy they came away with noting. The Int gave the 9ers 18 extra yards.

Totally agree with this. Brown is a good short yardage guy but he is a punt machine as a 3rd down option. He doesn't have the open field ability to break tackles or make a move for critical first downs.

Compare Niners 3rd down strategy to ours. Brown vs Kittle. It's night and day. One guy catches it short of the first down and makes two guys miss easily to convert. The other guy can't do a dam thing.

I love Mcvay as our coach but surely he is smart enough to see this, I said it a few weeks ago. Brown doesn't have open field ability and it kills drives. Akers needs to be in there.

I concur.

I understand the point that McVay doesn't trust Hendu or Cam like he does Brown in pass protection on 3 downs or obvious passing plays.

My concern is that how in the heck are Hendu and Cam going to get better in pass pro if they don't get the reps.

There are 6 games in the books now.

Time to start mixing in Hendu and Cam on passing downs so they can learn the art of pass pro vs live bullets.

Why? This is the part that needed the explanation. But instead all we get is McVay speaking his usual nonsense.

Poor time-out usage. Poor personnel selection. Questionable play-calling. Too pass-happy in key moments. It's all classic McVacy. And I like McVay. There are only a handful of other coaches I'd take over McVay (sadly, Kyle Shanahan is one of them), so I don't want a coaching change. I don't think we'd have an easy time finding an update. But McVacy does have some serious flaws to him, too. I think he is overrated around the NFL.
Are you on crack?
Dude’s 37-17 and got the Rams to a super bowl. Do you remember the 20 years before he got here?
Just stop!!

The 2018 Minnesota and KC and NO games say “hi”
