The one device that McVay uses to deflect (rightly or wrongly) questions about a practice is something like: "I have to really examine the tape to answer your question about "XYZ" but we played with great intensity, which is what you want."

Has any reporter asked the next day, about what he saw after viewing the tape from the previous practice? I would think not because they are always trying to get brand new "news"......Slick technique....

I do remember a reporter asking what he saw on tape from the previous day and McVay was straight up and mentioned some good and bad things that he saw on tape. So I think McVay just doesn't like to give out that info until he really breaks down the film.

It's a common theme among most NFL coaches to be able to talk a lot and say absolutely nothing at all. If it's worth asking about, they probably don't want to tell you.

McVay's a natural. He already handles the press better than 80% of the other coaches in this league. Dude has that "gift of the gab" and the press already love him. If he wins early on with this team, he is going to own LA.

But yeah he's not gonna give up what they're really thinking. That would make us happy in the short term, but it'd be a bad indicator.

I think it's extremely smart to not answer questions before you look at film. Film doesn't lie, and winter is here!!!

As long as I never hear the following after every single loss...

"I need to check with Reggie."

I don't care what coach speak he uses.

I think he is a master of not giving any real information in a nice positive way.

He's no Snead, but he is good. Snead can do a 10 minute interview and only give surface info. McVay handles himself well though.

The biggest waste of time is listening to a coaches post game or practice presser. Even if a player gets carted off with a horrific injury they say little. Jim Mora was right "you think you know but you don't know".
