All I have to say is, if OBJ takes a pay cut to stay, we get Woods back, Higbee is healthy, Akers is healthy, Hopkins gains confidence, Harris is healthy and with a year of learning., Stafford has the pressure off his back... this offense has the potential to be insane with mcvay.

Coaching is about so many things.... but leadership and culture building are right there at the absolute top. McVay absolutely excels in this area.. in understanding how to have fun.. and cultivate a collaborative spirit. It's incredible.

So many people say the right things, but actually executing what they claim to be their plan? Very few do. McVay is absolutely practicing what he preaches, and like you said, it's incredible

The guy is simply special. Yes, he makes errors. But he learns from them. He's not narcissistic and can self-reflect.
It has to be a daunting task to lead that may future HOF's on one team while in your 30's!
BTW, I LOVED that he stuck with the run for so long (even though it wasn't working) and then had Staffod and Kupp play catch during the final drive. My goodness, love that guy!

The offensive line will need a complete rebuild. Whitworth is gone. That being said....there's lots of pieces still around. If Higbee was available I don't think this would have been close.

Best to just ignore them. They don't contribute anything except talking about how bad coaches and players are and how they all suck and always say the game is over in the first quarter and then disappear after the inevitable victory. Most won't be seen again until week 1 next season when they'll be calling the game over in first quarter and talking about how terrible McVay is.

I respected and appreciated Stafford in Detroit but was caught off guard by his acquisition and didn't immediately get behind it. By the time training camp rolled around, or before, I was already fully sold. Just took me a second.

I don't know. It wasn't masterful by any stretch but you HAVE to factor in the loss of OBJ, no Higbee. Van Jefferson may have been exposed tonight. That discussion i'll save for another time and place.

Bottom line is his QB had very few options in the passing game and the run wasn't working. Whaddya do? Give the keys to your QB, trust him and get out of the way i suppose.

Agreed, and I did defend McVay on those points in the game day thread. I do not think he was bad, necessarily, but I also cannot say he was good, at least not in my estimation. I'll leave it at that rather than derail the thread and/or lose sight of the rightful celebrations!

No Blanton too and Jefferson’s wife was in labor. An absolute disaster situation for him today and he still won.

Agreed. Winning this was a hell of a coaching job in fact after OBJ went down. Offense was on fumes because the Bengals played great on both sides of the LOS.

I gotta give a lot of cred to them too. Bengals left it all on the field they were physical and disciplined all night.

We are very fortunate that our defense held up like they did in the clutch. And that our offense found a way. Sometimes that's the part of QBing that is most underrated late IMO. Doesn't have to be pretty just get it done.

True enough. The media really undersold the Bengals defensive front 7, the way they built a wall around our running game was relatively unexpected. And until the Rams defense took over midway thru the 3'rd quarter, Burrow had me feeling pretty uncomfortable.

This right here just blows my mind. We were so stagnant after OBJ went down. They started playing press man, and doubling Kupp, and no one on the roster could win except Brycen Hopkins. The defense kept us in it by completing dominating the 2nd half, and at the end Stafford just said fuck it I'm going to Kupp in double coverage who cares..and we drove down and won the game. Truly unbelievably great.

yeah I disagree that he didn't call a very good game... he was down to 3rd string receivers and they couldn't run the ball - that last drive was just amazing considering everything they were missing and how the Bengal's were playing them.

Amidst all the celebration, I have to admit I can't stand the early retirement talk.

Money talks though, I think Kroenke steps up and pays the man. Make him the highest paid HC in the NFL, hell, make sure it's not even close. He deserves it.
