I'm not sure if you meant me with this, but I didn't say either of those things.

I'm saying that both quarterbacks have played at roughly the same level (good and elite respectively), irrespective of the team that they were with or the OC that was in charge.
 
If you think the Raiders are going to trade out of 1 overall this year... When QB has been a glaring hole for them for years now, when there's a legit top QB prospect sitting there, when Brady has pushed his way into a decision making role as part of the ownership group, and when they have just brought in a top offensive mind to run their program... All I can say is maybe you'd better dial 911 and get them out to your place on the double for an emergency rectocraniectomy.

Wolford and Perkins were both UDFA and there's a majority of the time not a lot you can do with them add to that Wolford was on his 3rd team in 3 years when he joined the Rams.

The problem is I'm not saying McVay isn't good with the quarterbacks, and I absolutely love the guy to death as our head coach, I have jumped into his defence numerous times in the GDT.

I'm saying that I hear on a regular basis that he's fantastic with QBs and whereas his record is very good, it's not like he's brought half a dozen quarterbacks back from the dead.

Just to reiterate, I love McVay., but this always just seemed a little bit strange to me.

TBF, I'd forgotten about Kirk Cousins.

But I'd be interested in digging deeper on the numbers and the players at his disposal Oline etc.

Then again, it seems more and more on message boards that if you're not dying on a hill with your opinion you're out of step and middle-of-the-road opinions have little merit.

Agreed. BPA definitely at R1.13. Then I might go BPA at R1.29.
They can start addressing needs starting R2.

If he's around in the 2nd round I would consider taking him, but his team was pretty bad.... But so was Stafford's ex-team (Lions).

And I was agreeing with you he's done good with a few but overall doesn't have a track record of a QB "whisperer" like the media sometimes makes out. He's more of an overall offense guy and making it better for some QB's than a guy who changes QB's.

McVay won in Washington with Kirk Cousins at QB in his first stint at OC. He took a young nobody QB and put him on the NFL map. His offense was also irritatingly impossible to get off the field.

McVay took over a Rams team that at the time of his hire had a young QB whose name was dogshit in league circles and in the media. And he went to the Super Bowl with that QB.

McVay traded for a veteran QB in Stafford who members of the media were asking "can he win a playoff game" his very first trip to the playoffs with the Rams. Turns out with McVay he won a lot more than that one playoff game.

McVay took Mayfield off the waiver wire, rebuilt his confidence in a quick turnaround during the season, and his career since being with McVay is 180 degrees out from where it was before he played for McVay.

So I would say to answer your question: yes. You have missed a lot.

"Stafford was already a top passer before he came to the Rams. He just needed a team around him"- so that wasnt McVay's influence?
"And he did okay with Goff, but I don't think he got Goff playing above the level he's playing at now."- That's not saying Detroit got more out of him?
