That sounds about right. I had my knee done many years ago and it was something like that. Hurt like a bastard to start with but loosened up pretty quickly.

That's good to know from someone who has been thru it. Much appreciated..

One thing that ticks me off is during this whole process, they've been acting like I was not being honest and nothing was wrong with me. It's like anything else, you hear it enough and it beats you down. I know my damn body and when something is wrong with it. There's been many nights I haven't been able to sleep over 20 minutes at a time because of the pain. I have to sleep on my back with the knee propped up (leg bent at the knee). I've even had to sleep on the couch so I could keep my left leg off of it and my foot on the floor.

They've pretty much have had the attitude that I'm a lazy fook and trying to sham them. Hell, I took the job I got hurt on knowing it was only seasonal, but hated being on unemployment. When I first applied for the job, the ad stated it was 8 to 12 hours a day. It turned out to be 4 to 6 hours with a few at 8. Talk about a bait and switch. Who's conning who?

This could have been taken care of damn near 3 weeks ago. I guess I should be happy that me and my Doctor were correct. I am to a degree, but damn.. Sorry to vent and appreciate.

Don't really know which ones to post. There's many on the disc. I'm a tad out of my league here on knowing which ones are the better to read. Some I can't even access until I get the viewer figured out better. There are also different enhancement levels and these images are just the basic default ones. it's a start though.

OK, Dags, here we go.

It's too hard to see the meniscus from these scans, and the resolution, but sounds like the nurse already gave you some info. Your doctor will check out the rest too, you may have more damage then the nurse told you. Not saying you do for sure, but you might. The 2nd picture is the best to see the meniscus, and I see discoloration, which could indicate damage, but like I said, I can't see it clear enough.

Reading what you went through sucks, but it is pretty standard procedure for insurance companies. It's more of an insurance thing than a doctor thing, but some doctor's, and when I say doctor's, I mean nurses, are better at getting paperwork pushed through. Make nice with the nurses, always, or you will be forgotten, or placed on the bottom of the pile:sneaky: Sometimes though, it's just crappy insurance companies that basically put you through so much, that you will just say forget about it, and then they win.

After your doctor reviews your results and gives you recommendations, make sure you do the rehab, even if it's "at home" rehab, stretching, and working that knee, as he advises, but make sure you ask about it.

Take care, and get better soon.

Saw my specialist on 02-25-15 @DR RAM . Definitely a torn meniscus flap which requires surgery. The flap is between my bone and cartilage he says.. Folded over and getting hammered each time I try to walk and etc. I have a good Doc.. He's been in sports medicine, affiliated with BJC in his younger days, and now in St. Luke's in Chesterfield. Surgery will take place in Creve Coeur. Supposedly this is where the Rams and Cardinals get there outpatient done.

Here's my Doctor/Specialist.. His dad was my MD when I was growing up, so that helps me trust him. His old man was one hell of a MD and told you how it was. I could relate a story or two but that would be better for a PM.. lolol

I have the utmost confidence in the cat. Should he fook up, then my bad.. Looking forward to getting this done.. Liberty Mutual/UPS approved it and looks like it will be this Friday morning. Wish me luck brother and thanks for all the support and conversation you've given me here, the chat, and PM. Much appreciated my friend and hope I can do the same for you. I never forget good people. That said I'm celebrating with my boys...

More songs after this one too.. lol Be cool DR.

Surgery done and over with yesterday morning. It went good. I have a good doctor. No pain at all in it until late last night.. Guess my "cocktail" of a painkiller shot wore off. The pain wasn't bad at that point. It's been kind of weird. It felt so good yesterday I probably tried to do to much on it for just after surgery.. I felt like a new man after surgery. I could bend the knee and walk on it, but still used a cane to keep weight off of it as I'm doing now. My first surgery and it was a minor one, but a different experience.

That said, I can keep ice on it and keep it elevated while sitting in front of this PC.. Look out ROD...

Happy to hear that it went well. It also happened fairly quickly.

One of my employees rolled his ankle 3 years ago.
Workers comp has been giving him the run around for years. They don't believe anybody. They go through their investigations as though everyone is filing a fake claim.
He's finally getting surgery to repair his bad wheel. 3 years too late.

Damn that's crazy.. I was in the good fortune to having a co-worker back me up to my claims rep at Liberty Mutual (UPS insurance). It happened on Christmas Eve. When speaking with my claims rep the first time I brought up I didn't want the conversation recorded as I was not sure if I needed to speak with legal counsel. I'm not saying that was it, but the only problem I've had with them was my primary physician having to appeal their doctor's denial in a MRI for the knee. UPS and Liberty Mutual have been gold so far other than that. Not to mention we proved them (their doctor) wrong on denial of MRI.. It's not over yet..

That said Dodgersrf, I'm not going through the state workers comp. here. I have heard horror stories about that. I've just been dealing with UPS and Liberty Mutual as stated above. I haven't even requested TTD from them, but I have that in my back pocket. If things keep going the way they are, I prolly won't have to. I am in contact with legal counsel getting advised.

But yes, especially at first one of the things you said above bothered me. At first it seemed to me everyone thought I was faking it, and it whizzed me off at times. I was really whizzed about the denial of MRI because that just added close to 3 weeks to the process. The doctor was crazy to suggest Physical Therapy. My primary doctor was whizzed because their doctor thought he didn't know what he was talking about.. lolol Crazy. PT could have actually done more harm to it.

I've rambled enough. I can't believe he's went 3 years and just now getting surgery??? Two opinions from doctors should have sealed the deal. What state is this in?

The toughest part was that his doctor sent him for MRI's on more than one occasion. Workers comp kept denying him.
I had a few very blunt conversations with HR regarding the care he wasn't getting. There wasn't much they could do.
The guy was a stellar employee. He wanted to work.

Damn.. They denied for MRI's eh? Or did they approve MRI's and then denied surgery? I can the HR dept not being able to do much. Hard to go up against a bureaucracy such as workers comp. They are instructed to deny, deny, as insurance companies are. But if you're denying most everything why have it?

I can related about just wanting to work. That's all I want to do and told UPS and Liberty mutual that I wasn't looking to sue and get rich. I just wanted to get better.

I hope the best for him. Man 3 years is a long time to be being beaten down and people saying you're faking something. Kudos to him for hanging in there. Has he been on light duty? If workers comp is denying him, I'm assuming they're denying him TTD also? Good luck to him regardless and glad he's finally getting something done. :)

The doctor set up MRI appointments. When he showed up for his MRI, he was sent home. Workers comp wouldn't approve them.
We always offer lite duty when possible. We paid him to work in the office. These arrangements are generally temporary until the employee can begin performing more of their original duties. This went on for the first year.We had no idea the State would drag their feet as long as they did. We eventually had to release him entirely to workers comp for disability.
We deal with injuries yearly at our company. Even though our Company is considered high risk, our MOD ratings are low. Which is good.
I guess it depends on who is assigned to handle the individuals case. I have only seen these issues with workers comp with 2 or 3 employees over the years. Its tough on the guys that legitimately need the care though.
We can thank all the greedy, lazy crooks for the lack of faith given by WC.
