Even the win versus DET was not a good day for them. And the D rose to the occasion for the win.

I'm somewhat cherry picking a comment here, but no offense scores +30 every week.

Even the eventual SB Champs struggled to score 13 in their win. Had we beat them, "Is Brady Washed Up?" would have been the headlines.

I'm all for making the defense better, though late season it was very good.

In the losses the issue was Goff and McVay. Or better said the position that McVay put Goff in too often.

Even the win versus DET was not a good day for them. And the D rose to the occasion for the win.

As much as they need a fwe of their positions upgraded they need the HC's decision making upgraded.

He's a kid head coach Les. Brilliant kid, but still a kid. Gotta take our lumps and keep our eye on the big picture with him: he's special, so support him and do everything we can to give him a roster with enough pieces.

Defense is a QB's best friend in the playoffs. Look at Brady. If we had played a reasonably decent day offensively he'd be facing questions about whether he's still got it. Older vets stepped it up and Wade killed it in the playoffs, but there is a swoon coming for this unit if they don't inject it with some fresh talent. Wade needs an edge thread desperately, and not just that.

None of this matters to me. McVay may be figured out or whatever but in reality: we had receivers open and our QB couldn't/didn't get the ball to them. The game was ours for the taking and we didn't take it.

As much as I hate to admit it - Brady/Belicheck/Pats are the kings until they are dethroned. They will win the AFC East easily for the next 3-4 years so they have an automatic bid to the playoffs. Once they are in the playoffs they are a different team. I am going to assume they will win next year until proven otherwise.

Hold up here:
"Then, he saw an NFL Network interview where Goff and McVay discussed the coach being in the quarterback’s ear up until the 15-second play-clock cutoff, which was something Shanahan did with Hoyer."

I thought Goff was the only one allowed to have a coach talk to him? You mean other QBs are "cheating" too?

Like I told you guys in the other thread, Baldinger was full of shit:
At the snap, Goff ran play-action to Gurley and, as he turned, Devin was still moving to the middle of the field. That caused Goff to look to Robert Woods, running an over route. Devin then planted and ran towards Woods. Meanwhile, Jason had, as he said, no work, and dropped further back. Goff saw Cooks. By then, Jason McCourty had just enough time, and was just close enough to get to the ball.

“People were bashing Goff for throwing this ball late,” Devin said. “But the truth is, in play action, when you turn your back, you can’t dissect the coverage right away. You can’t just get up and throw this post. If I’m running to the middle, it’s post coverage. So you should throw the over. He originally thinks it’s the over, this play happened in the first quarter, so he thinks, ‘I’ll throw the over.’

“But now we’re in quarters, so I have this guy, and Jonathan Jones cuts him and Steph [Gilmore] is just running with the post and J [Jason] should help with the post.”

And Jason could, because of that small adjustment.

And Hoyer wasn't nearly as good when it was happening to him.

It's almost like Goff is good or something, but we know that can't be true.

We've heard every coach in every sport say essentially the same thing after every loss.

I don't recall Martz saying that after the Rams lost to the P*ts in SB 36 ... instead, he doubled down and said they should have passed even more.

Goff just can’t win, by all accounts Belichick and Flores did a masterful job in creating this game plan, but Goff was also horrible. Considering if Cooks makes one or both of those catches it’s a different game, Goff gave the team a chance, and if not for Edelman, Brady’s numbers would’ve been similar.
I saw where that strategy of replacing the qb after his first contract and letting McVay work his magic has resurfaced, I’m sure because of the offenses performance.
There were a lot of factors at play, the offensive line, the running game, the Patriots secondary and if any one area is different maybe the outcome is different. But Goff is the face of the franchise, he’s going to take the blame whether he deserves it or not.

Jared Goff/Sean McVay are going to run the NFL for the next 15 years.

It’s absolutely amazing to me the flak this kid takes. He went from a “bust” as a rookie to a Super Bowl appearance in his 3rd year. How can anyone still not believe in his ability? It’s mind boggling. But I understand because the media needs to keep up the narrative since they started the fire in the first place.

It's because these a$$wipes called him a bust in his first year and now they are emotionally attached to their narrative. They ignore any evidence that goes against their narrative and cling like a leech to anything they believe supports it. They just can't admit they were wrong, so they will desperately look for anything that they believe supports their take.

In short, they are idiots, and furthermore, they are willfully blind idiots.
