I think he is the frontrunner - maye has been good, but him getting it over Stafford seems unfair. They gave it to Allen last year because he had a great year and it seemed to be his time. That seems to be a very similar pattern this year.

Not only should Stafford get the MVP, the F-N ref should flag defenders who hit him late and with their helmets. How many QBs get the princess treatment but Stafford gets face masked, hit late, hit with helmets and rarely does a flag come out. Even the 2022 NFCCG the refs failed to call a blatant personal foul in the 1st quarter against the whiners after Stafford threw a pick. Then you see guys like princess Allen get hit near the sidelines and the field turns yellow with flags. I don't get it

Any Detroit fan that booed that man in their home playoff game the other year should turn in their fan card.

She is one worthless fuck of a media personality.
Hate to break it to everyone, but Jourdan, on her podcast with Greg Rosenthal, also picked Maye. He agreed, but he thinks Stafford wins for sentimental reasons.

Jourdan I'm fine with due to the extent of her desire to put out a top product. She works hard and is consistent in the best ways as a beat writer.

Kimes I have no idea how she got to where she did. Well that's not true... I do have an idea but not gonna air that one. :laugh4:

Wouldn't be surprised if maye won it. The patriots would be dogshit without him.
I get the feeling you haven't watched any of their games. Which I wouldn't judge you for by the way. They are a team of extreme hideousness.

But their defense is very strong. Sound front to back, their last three games as well they're ticking at less than 15ppg. They played a weak ass sched, however the same could be said for numerous title teams in their history. And as I always say, a strong defense is a QB's best friend.

I have watched Patriots highlights, but never a full game, so it’s tough to say. From what I have seen, he’s more of a game manager, who has a plus arm and is comfortable throwing the ball over the top more than pushing it all over the field. Their offense is far more conservative and no where near as dynamic because he simply cannot match Stafford pass for pass. It’s not simply the scheme. He has run for a lot of first downs and it’s frustrating watching him do it time in and time out but also speaks to the fact he simply cannot read or manipulate a defense like Stafford. I would love to have drafted Maye but he’s not able to, and possibly never will, play at the level of Stafford who, for my money, is one of the best ever. As Warner pointed out, MVP is not most valuable to their organisation, it’s who was the best player. It’s not even close on that basis but even if it was valuable to the team, who has carried theirs on their back during this amazing rebuild? When Stafford was injured, how did we do?

To suggest Maye is more valuable to his team is laughable! That’s like saying Manning or Brady were not as valuable when they played on their best teams! Fucking ridiculous and no joke. What’s more ridiculous is that these pricks will decide when we have to listen to them make arses of themselves on a weekly basis. Hall of famers should decide, not corporate media hounds, whose job revolves around popularity, talking points and following the crowd… If it was down to great players deciding, and particularly QBs, which would make a lot of sense and be better informed, I don’t think it would be close, especially because the film doesn’t lie and they actually watch it!

Warner makes a very good point. It's really not about value but performance. Maye or Stafford? You could give the award to McCaffrey. Has anybody been more valuable to their team? The injury plagued niners? To continue that theory Allen could get it again. Without him they're the Dolphins. How about Lawrence? Caleb? Darnold? Njigba? Cam Heyward? All those guys are worthy but none of them, including Maye, have had as good of a season as Stafford.

I appreciate the sentiment as I also hate the Pats but he’s played a little bit better than that :-)

While true he did, it is a fact that they won that game because of his defense getting two turnovers and him managing the game. it was a classic Vrabel team game. It’s why he was successful with a Miami cast off at QB when he coached in Tennessee. When Maye is forced to compete with a good team, he just can’t take over. Stafford can. I don’t hate the patriots anymore. Everything I hated about them is gone. I believe he’s very good and going to be great, I don’t see an MVP. 17 of his touchdown passes came against teams picking in the top 6 of the draft. He has 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions against opponents over .500. That’s 3 games. He’s 1-3 against competitive teams. I’m not buying it. I hope MVP votes don’t get submitted until after the playoffs, because he’s going to get exposed.

Stafford has the edge in degree of difficulty. The defenses he faced averaged a #16.2 ranking. Maye faced defenses averaging a #18.5 ranking. In common opponents (Carolina, Atlanta, Tampa, N. Orleans, Tennessee, Baltimore) Maye beat all 6 with a stat line of 119-170 1595 yds 13 TD 3 Int 117.6 rating. Stafford posted a 4-2 record with a stat line 129-192 1745 yds 14-6, 107.2 rating. Of course Stafford faced 3 of the 6 in the last 6 weeks of the season (NFC South) when they were fighting for a playoff spot. Maye faced 5 of the 6 in the first 10 weeks.

Here's a question. Maye is mobile so he ran 103 times this year AND was sacked 47 times, fourth most in the NFL. Was it because his OL sucked? Or because of his indecision? They didn't suffer an abnormal number of injuries.....2 guys (Campbell & Wilson) missed 4 games each. With his 4 rushing TDs and 31 passing TDs, Maye produced 24% less TDs than Stafford. And New England had a 52.6 to 47.4% pass to run ratio. The Rams were 57.2% to 42.8%. Much more protection for the young QB? Does an MVP typically need that type of protection?
