Sorry everyone, but I am ok with Marcus Peters. I think his injury and the scheme affected his play earlier this year. Too many new pieces and lack of communication when Talib was out. Yeah, having Talib helps him but also helps everyone else too. I also expect Peters to come up big in the next two games.
I’m on board as well. The guy still brings swagger to the defense and can be a play maker when put into position.

I bet he gets back to being a turnover machine next year if given the chance.

Goff needs Talib to hold his hand too?

He tells Goff what the defense is doing through a secret headset when Goff is in the huddle and goes to the LOS.

It's in his left ear. McVay is in his right ear. But it changes at halftime to the other way around.

This is no lie, he's explaining the coverage in one ear while McVay is calling the play in the other ear.

Still think he was confused by the defensive calls and what his responsibilities were for a given look/formation. Talib being there makes a difference, and if I'm right him being in the defense longer helps too.

I don't know when Wade allowed him to play zone, but that is where he was supposed to be at his best. All the scouting reports on him mentioned his instincts when he's able to keep his eyes on both the receiver and quarterback. That could be another reason for the late season improvement.

I noticed that at the Dallas game, Talib calls out what he sees at the line before the ball is snapped and communicates with everyone what's coming or what they might do. The lateral movement of the Rams was off the chart that game.

Goff is accused of having his hand held by McVay. I'm wondering why that applies to Peters but I doubt he'd say it about Goff.... Both play mentally challenging positions that benefit from veteran/calming/more intelligent presence.
Because Goff has been largely very effective and Peters has been largely disappointing.
If it goes well it's coaching.
If it goes badly it's hand holding.
I guess.

I have been super critical of Peters.
CB is a brutal position if someone is struggling.
You can hide a lot of things in football, even a bad blocker.
It is very hard to hide a guy who is having trouble covering.
I do give Peters props for playing through his calf. Not as easily thing and it would have understandable to miss some time.

At this point Coach Wade will coach to the defense's strengths. He knows exactly what that means so have faith that he will put his defense in the best position to succeed. In addition, he has the entire defensive arsenal at his disposal, close to 100% healthy with additions (Fowler, Barron off IR) and improvements (Littleton, Suh, Donald peaking) since the season opener.

He's played well of late....he's healthier, and obviously Wade made some adjustments to fit our players.... We need him Sunday to be hungry and at his best.

It will be interesting to see which way we go next season...Marcus contract is a good one for us...but scheme wise ….if Wade comes back...we'll have to see

Peters can make plays. Not just the interceptions but he had some nice breakups in the Cowboys game and earlier in the Saints game this year. Problem is he can also get beat and then shy's away from contact.

I was really impressed when rewatching the Cowboys game and Saints game to see how many times Peters made a play in coverage. We always seem to remember the times he is burnt and think he had a bad game.

I think he can step up in this Saints game and send us to the Super Bowl. Will he? Don't know.

I am mostly in this camp, to be honest.

Peters hasn’t been great this year. But, it’s a position where every mistake is easily seen. It’s harder to say that about the DL and linebackers because it’s less obvious.

So, every mistake Peters has made, it’s difficult to hide. Couple that with his injury, and I am cutting him a little slack.

Not to mention, like @Legatron4, I dig his swagger in the playoffs.

It wouldn’t surprise me if he makes a big play in one of the next 2 games.

Be it a good or bad thing, I can’t imagine there has ever been a game in MPs life he’s looked forward to more than this one

We’re going to find out a lot about him this Sunday, I personally think he’s ready and up for the challenge

The deep ball to Gallup was on Peters. He vacated his zone.

It sure was and I'm very concerned because not only has Peters showcased he does not have the discipline to play zone or cover man to man, he's a ticking time bomb and if the Saints are desperate Asshole Face will do anything he can to get Peters to burst and cost the Rams 15 yards or more.

That isn't my argument though.

Petes has been fine when he's having his hand held. So has Goff. The question is how would they look without it? We know for Peters, I just wonder what Goff would look like without McVay in his ear.

WTF is this even supposed to mean?

That McVay is telling him where to throw the ball?

Is this stemming fromn the fact that McVay talks to him up until the mic is turned off like most coaches do?

It's a very similar thing! They're both getting extra help. One from Talib one from McVay. Are we seriously denying that Goff gets help from his coach? Every young QB does. Just like every young corner would benefit from Talib in their ear. It's not that hard to understand guys. Young players get help from veterans and coaches. It isn't a bad thing to say "Peters gets help." Remember he's only a year older then Goff... (1993 vs.1994). Peters just has a reputation that is hard to shake which I get, but I've seen so many good players in my life with that reputation that it would be a real shame to give up on Peters after one bad year.

And I really disagree with the original notion that Peters HAS to be baby sat or that it's pathetic. That was the original comment I was replying to.
