I expect to see Tavon get a few more traditional carries out of the tailback position - and I'm perfectly fine with that if it happens.
Carry it inside? The attempt I saw last Sunday against the Giants he was thrown down like a 90 lb. weakling. Tend to agree with flv. We want a bigger dog in that fight.I agree. I think Tavon will see an increased role on the field. Maybe a few catches out of the backfield as well. Get him on a wheel route matched up on a line backer or a safety.
Tavon has tremendous vision when he is carrying the ball. He can carry it inside. I also think he sees things that Gurley doesn't necessarily see. . . maybe couldn't even fit through. With that being the case when he is in the game he is really making guys act in a different manner. He's changing the pace.
That’s only 20 per game. Doesn’t seem high at all to me. Got anything to back up that decline statement?Gurley is on pace for 322 attempts and I am not good with that. RB's who have done that mostly suffer a big decline the next year.
They need to find someone to get a few more carries than they have been to take a little of the load off of him. Otherwise history has taught us that there will be a noticeable degree of drop off.
Im going with Dunbar here bc we can stash Davis in PS.
my bad then. i say whoever has better ball security and pass blocking skill wins the job.I'm pretty sure Davis is already on the 53, just isn't activated on game days.

It's sort of an unwritten rule, like 2500 touches or reaching 30 years old.
The punishment takes it's toll quickly, Here is a link. There is a chart that shows 300+ carry backs and how they did the next year. Teams are reducing the load because that number of carries, especially if the runner is a physical type of back, catches up fast.
The chart didn't paste in well but you can click the link and check it out. Gurley isn't a highly physical runner but he is moderately so. I'd like to see him get more rest so to speak.

Bad news....
And who wants to "see" if Davis can block pass rushers at this time in the season? Can't believe some of you are serious with this....dude is a rookie...not known for his blocking...and he fumbles.
I'm hoping Dunbar if fully healthy. It appears that this was a genius pickup...
But there are a bunch of RB's on the wavier wire....
I wonder is Benny still on the Bears?
Questions come to mind:
Is Tavon going to be the #2 running back ? For how long?
How many more carries does he get above his 3.875 APG?
Can Dunbar or Davis step in as a #2 RB?
Will the Rams look for another player? Who?
It is a shame they could not keep Cunningham...not sure that was their choice as I am sure he wanted to go somewhere where he had a shot to get more work.
However, that is one guy that had he stayed, makes them a better team. And its not like he would have cost them more than what they paid for Dunbar, but again he likely wanted to go somewhere and have a shot at being the guy which could not happen here.
Nice chart. They didn't show the year after carries which could be why the yards were less. They also are career years for Peterson and others. Other factors are involved too. I do agree that you don't want to overload your running back.
They should look for someone that has more size and experience.
