This was so damn funny. I have been a been keeper and bees are truly fascinating.
On the other side of the coin, related to the mating.... the males plumbing is barbed - probably so it stays in place for a few seconds - because they be doing this in the air when the queen takes flight, solely to get stooped. Once this act is completed, that is where those damn barbs come in - it pretty much pulls the males inards out and he falls to the ground, presumably dead. On the other hand, why not? The bee hive is basically 40-60,000 women, anyway. There are a few guard males in every hive, to protect the joint - but when winter comes, they dispatch those guys off anyway and hunker in for the winter...
There may be some lessons here - but you are on your own from here on out... :woozy2:
