Maybe it has been mentioned but McVay commented today that a couple former Rams have been working as unofficial coaches in Camp. Eric Weddle, who has already left, did not surprise me. The other was Lombardi starting-center Brian Allen. I always thought Allen was just far-too-limited physically and talent-wise but a very smart player. McVay was very complimentary towards Allen.

Speaking of the preseason games here's hoping Fergy can make most of them. Given how well Allen's been playing as a safety valve in 11 on 11, he probably represents 50% of the 12 personnel package for the opener, so McVay will likely hold him out with Higs.
Sure sounded like it was Colby and Higs in 12 with Allen and Ferg backing them up so far in camp. Pretty sure Sales and JB Long had some stuff on Colby being the other guy in 12 but have to look for it.

Allen's brilliant and comes from a football family. His football IQ has never been in doubt, so maybe it makes him a solid coach? Who knows?

The morons at Ramblin Fan think the Rams are in great position to make an offer for Micah Parsons, in part b/c of Stetson Bennett's great showing in camp and what it means--in combo with their draft capital--for 2026 and the Stafford Succession.

First off, WTF with the Parsons bullshit?

Not positing it b/c it's stupid...I read it so you don't have to.

No way is Jimny getting flipped unless the team falls apart due to injury. McVay thinks this team can win it all so he wants a legit vet back up that can play.

G-String is Stafford insurance this year and bridge QB next year (if Staff hangs em up).
McVay is full of shit. Keep that in mind. He always talks players way up. So what I do as it pertains to his coachspeak is keep in mind who the player is. Then evaluate the options from there. Jimmy is a marginal QB at best, and will probably remain a backup the rest of his career.

I like very much the way Bennett is throwing the ball in the small window of vids I've seen. He's potentially a QB2 at this level which is the role in question that would allow the Rams to move Jimmy for another pick.

Now whether Bennett is considered for that job in this window... Him playing well in preseason would be a required metric for that to occur, and on top of that he would need to perform consistently in camp. Which at this point we're flying blind really. So we'll have to wait and see. But don't make the mistake of reading McVay's bullshit at face value. Because Jimmy's QB2 on our depth chart for a reason.

No way you go into a a Super Bowl window season with an injured QB and trade away a Super Bowl experienced QB in favor of rolling with a guy who hasn’t played a live snap, is under 6’ and has emotional problems.

For a moment there, you scared the shit out-of-me because I thought you were describing @Loyal !

Although the above description also applies to most ROD members ... Now I'm scared again ... Damn It!

I'm discussing the possibility. You and Philly are busy acting like it is some impossibility.

But who after all would have thought we'd favor rolling with a guy who was throwing toilet paper rolls in a Hi-Vee back in '99.

We're talking backup QB here. And I don't think Garoppolo is a student of this game. So I'll move along with my silly opinion and look forward to seeing if Bennett can pull his head out of his ass in the upcoming games.
