I saw it the same exact way and thought he should have went to first.

After several rewatches, the ball came much farther towards the plate then initially thought...after bouncing off him.

I think with his momentum coming towards the plate and how far the ball came out, the play at first would have been very difficult. he would have needed to pivot and throw.

He had less time and options then first glance and home might have been his only play.

Either way, we got a break in a game where one error would decide it.
A comment from Bryce Harper is sounded like the kid wasn't aware there was two outs. Sure looked to me like a throw to first was the best option. Pages was barely past the halfway point when he picked up the ball. I think a good throw gets him out. Even if the throw home was better Kim beat the throw to the plate.

According to a woman who claims to be a Phillies writer Cristopher Sanchez said the ump apologized for missing a call that ended with a walk to Alex Call who eventually scored the tying run on a bases loaded walk. If that is true did the ump apologize to Glasnow? From where I was sitting it sure looked like the first 5 or 6 inning Sanchez got the borderline calls that Glasnow didn't.

I was mixed about the how the win went down last night but this morning I realized the Dodgers got the bases loaded so an error by the Phils would be obviously season ending.

I am trying to figure out if there was a single earned run in the game.

Dodgers have certainly earned the right to go on.

I sure love this team.

We swept Cincy and took two games at Philly.
I’m feeling pretty good right now.

I’d like to see more runs, but our pitching has been solid.

Whoever we play our pitching is set up pretty good. Ohtani, Snell, Yamamoto and Glasnow. Sheehan and Sasaki out of the pen. Dreyer is pretty good too. And I don't think Brewers and Cubs starters are as good as Phillies starters were. Brewers had the best record but Dodgers will be favored if its them.

This picture clearly shows that the play to first would have been the best bet.

I wouldn't count Kershaw out.

Dodgers were 0-6 vs Brewers this year. 3-4 vs Cubs. I would rather play the Cubs.

Somewhat overlooked is Sheehan’s botched play at first. Pitchers practice that play all the time and if he makes it the Phillies probably don’t score in the seventh.

If Phillies fans are like Eagles fans its hard to feel for them. Those fans are easily the worst in sports. Whatever the case, it doesn't matter how we got there. We're back in the NLCS again. Seems like a regular occurrence lately. This is their 7th in the last ten years. A repeat championship and we can talk about a dynasty.

The Ohillies/Eagles fan thing is weird. I admitted, ai actually root for the Phillies. Never have been a huge baseball fan, but my kid played baseball in college, so after about 15 yrs of watching youth baseball you start following it more closely. My kid grew up idolizing Chase Utley & Jimmy Rollins, so I started following them as well. Taking him to games etc... I will say, going to a Phillies game vs going to an Eagles game is night and day. No issues wearing opposing jerseys to a Phillies game, where if you do that an Eagles game you can be verbally and even physically assaulted.

I know the majority of fans follow both teams, but that 60k that go to each Eagles game are the hard-core lunatics. Whereas the Phillies fans, who go to their games are more laid back and just having a great time. I do recall one Phillies playoff game a few years ago we had a family sitting behind us who were pigs. Swearing about everything, and even started verbally assaulting other Phillies fans who were giving them dirty looks for dropping f-bombs because kids were present. So there is some crossover.

As for Phillies/ Dodgers, I do think the deferred payment structure the Dodgers are using to pay Ohtani and others, is nonsense. And that's my biggest complaint about baseball where half the teams have no shot to compete on a yearly basis with big market teams. Once they do put together a real good competitive young team, those small market teams lose those guys to FA.

So… I was mildly irritated that the Brewers-Cubs game was listed on TBS because I don’t have cable anymore but… flipping around over the air channels for college football and lo and behold MLB Latino is over the air in the Sacramento area. KTFK-DT and KTFK-HD. It has a TNT affiliation.

From what I've heard the deferred payment was what Ohtani wanted. He wanted them to sign Yamamoto. Which they did. I have a feeling having Ohtani and Yamamoto is what swayed Sasaki to pick the Dodgers.

As far as the advantages for big market teams, I can't disagree with you on that. But since my team is a beneficiary of the salary rules in MLB I'm fine with it. I guess I'd feel different if I were a Pirates, Marlins or A's fan. Dodgers do have a solid organization. It helps to have deep pockets too.

So we play the winner of tonight's game. Obviously we want the Cubs to win so we have home field advantage. But the Brewers are up a run in the 7th inning. We'll see how that ends up soon.

Whoever we play I like our chances. I think we'll have the better starting rotation. And I don't think either team has the starting pitching the Phillies had. They had some tough pitchers. So if we have to go to Milwaukee I think we'll be fine. Might take 6 or 7 games but I do believe the Dodgers will be favored. One thing that might be a concern. Watching the bullpen game it seems both teams have some pretty good relievers.
