Thats not a Roberts decision.
For a 2 game series I dont see a problem. He'll be back for the DS.
It was a Roberts decision since he allowed him to pitch more than 4 innings.
And the way that the bullpen has been this year, I do not want to see either Treinin or Scott in the 9th inning.

Realistically Kersh wasn't going to throw this series. In a longer series 100%.
But yes these decisions are made in a vacuum.
Snell, Yamamoto and Glasnow this series? Thats a good rotation. If only we could count on the bullpen.
Looks like Tanner Scott is on the playoff roster. Kirby Yates will not be on the roster. They put him on the 15 day IL. I hope they don't use Scott in any close games. This is not the time to let him try and work through his problems. Sasaki will be on the playoff roster. Which is interesting. I watched him pitch an inning and he looked like he got his velocity back. A couple pitches hit 100 mph.
Roki could be the key.
Snell needs to be efficient tonight, get us into the 7th....

I still don't trust the bullpen.
10 2 lead and they give up 3 runs in the 8th. Treinen did look sharp in the 9th though. But he did have a 5 run lead.
I would like to see Sheehan or Sazaki pitch when the game is close.
They just gotta find someone who can throw strikes out of the bullpen. Treinen's struggled most the year. But looked pretty good last night. Henriquez wasn't anywhere near the strike zone. Vesia has trouble too. Dreyer walked in a run too but its tough to come in with the bases loaded.
The bullpen did not do anything to alleviate the concerns. Fortunately they had a big lead. Roberts has his work cut out trying to find a couple guys he can rely on in close games.

I don't know why its so hard to find a bullpen pitcher who can throw strikes. In the two 8 innings where they gave up 5 runs they threw over 90 pitches. Thankfully Roki showed Roberts he can be that guy he needs in the 9th. Being a starter he can go more than an inning if needed. Treinen and Roki should be the 8th and 9th inning guys.
