Well, playoffs are not a given if they don't right the ship. They've been a sub .500 team for almost two months. Not showing signs they're ready to make a run.

Today their offense struggled against a pitcher with a ERA at almost 8. A 1.80 WHIP. His ERA sure got a boost today.

Meanwhile Ohtani got knocked around for 9 hits and 5 runs in 4 innings. Best they can do would be a 4 game split with the worse team in the league.
I get the frustration, I do. However there is a 99.999% chance we make the playoffs and we probably win the division.

After an emotionally charged series in LA, which they swept, its just hard to get up for an August series in Colorado. Just human nature.

Look, the best team in the NL just got swept by their rivals...

Win today, and then gear up for another battle in SD. Snell, Glasnow, and Yama, I like our chances.....

In the playoffs, we aren't going to throw out there Alex Freeland, Conforto, and Buddy Kennedy....

162 is a grind....stick with em!

It's extremely frustrating.

Losing 2 out of 3 to the Rockies is completely unacceptable.

The worst team in the league by far and can't hit a rookie with an 8 ERA before the game.

Just absolutely terrible.

This is not a good look at all.

And I would put Ohtani in the bullpen just to pitch a few innings a week when they have a large lead or behind by a few runs. It's clear that he is still trying to get his stuff back.

A kid I know was drafted by the Dodgers in the sixth round. He played with my son in travel baseball. His name is Mason Legenza.
Starter for the Mets tonight Nolan Mclean played with my son. Hell of an arm, was a 2 way player for a year at Oklahoma State.

Big series this weekend for the fellas. We hit, we win!

I don't know how long its gonna take for the Dodgers to break out of their collective slump. We know about the bullpen struggles. No lead is safe. But the offensive struggles are something that is concerning.

A few days ago they got shut down by a guy whose ERA was around 8 with a 1.8 WHIP. Last night they face a guy with an ERA over 5. Managed one hit and one walk in 6 innings. 3 hits for the game.

So far today through 5 innings its 15 up and 15 down for Nestor Cortez. A perfect 5 innings. A guy with a 5.87 ERA and 1.65 WHIP. Our hitters are not facing all star talent but still struggling to score. Are they gonna start talking about a no hitter in a couple innings?

15-17 since the all star break. I'm not even counting the 7 game losing streak before the break. On July 3 they peaked at 56-32. Since then they're 17-24. 41 games of sub .500 play. Are they gonna break out of it? One has to wonder with all that talent why it hasn't happened in so long.

Getting Tanner and Yates back definitely helps the bullpen. Alleviates the number of appearances that Vesia needs to make.

He is starting to get tired and he is definitely not a 9th inning reliever.

Plus, Kopech is close to coming back and I definitely like his ability in the later innings.

I was really worried about a sweep. That was a much needed win. Are they ready to break out and start winning more? Getting close to two months of sub .500 winning percentage.

The bullpen is the main culprit. But the offense has been shut down by below average pitching too. First two losses of the series they scored one run against pitchers with an ERA over 5. The got shut down by a pitcher with an ERA close to 8 in Colorado. A hitter's ballpark. Hopefully they turn it around in October.

Just a gritty gutty win Sunday.

If you had told us we'd go 4-2 vs SD in those 6 games; we take it.

Now lets stay focused and get a series win vs Cinnci.

Ohtani for the sweep today against the only team that has NOT gotten swept all year.

8:40 start time for those east coasters!!

Lets do it!

Nice sweep.

And this E. Hernandez guy.

0 era after 14 bullpen games.

They should have tried him in the 8th inning when they had 1 run leads.

Everyone else failed miserably.

Well, they finally scored a run. After getting shutout by another plus 5 ERA pitcher.

After scoring runs and sweeping the Reds the offense is shut down by high ERA pitchers.

Colorado had two guys that dominated them. One with ERA over 5. The other was almost 8. Last night and tonight was two pitchers over 5 ERA. Dominated by both.

Here we are at the end of August. 5 teams have a better record than the Dodgers. Yet, they are still the favorites to win the World Series. I just saw a stat that might explain why. The last 30 games they are 5-10 against teams with a losing record. 11-4 against teams with a winning record. I'm thinking the oddsmakers believe the talent and experience will show up come playoff time. Like it does when they play the better teams. I hope so.

Unfortunately Vegas does not base their odds on how good a team is.

They base their odds on who will bet and how much on the teams.

Let's say their are 100 betters at $1 a bet

And 4 teams are in those 100 bets

Lets say team 1 has 50 betters
Team 2 30 betters
Team 3 20 betters
Team 4 10 betters

Vegas wants to win $10 no matter what.

So they will do the following odds

9-5 team 1
3-1 team 2
4.5 - 1 team 3
9-1 team 4

No matter who wins - Vegas wins $10

That's why if a certain team gets more bets - they will lower the odds for that team (whether they believe the team will win or not).

Dodgers up 4-1 in the 8th. Tanner Scott comes in. Game tied at 4-4 at the end of the inning. Fortunately Will Smith to the rescue with a walk off pinch hit HR. They needed that one.

Treinen looked good. I think before he went down with the injury he was slated to be the closer. They really need a legit closer. They thought signing Scott would be the answer. Or Kirby. Neither one is getting the job done. Hopefully Kopech comes back in time to get some innings before October.

Gritty win.

Tanner got kinda screwed on the 2 batters prior, but gotta be better.

4-2 home trip and we gained 2 games on SD. Overall solid homestand.

Onto Pitts!

Looks like we signed Heaney?? Odd signing....

Heaney will be our savior

I would still use E. Hernandez in the 8th inning when possible and either Treinen or Kopech in the 9th

Dodgers are a mess right now, imo.
They really need Muncy... Mookie's turned into a slap-hitter.. Teo is a legitimate problem right now and the bullpen is, at least the closer part.. a shit show.
Lots of things need to go right for them to put it together. Shohei's had a weird season.... way too many strikeouts and way too many failed ABs with men on .
25 games or so to get their shit together... but they're just not playing good ball and I don't have much hope for a good postseason.

We barely had 3 starters last year, were down 2-1 throwing a bullpen game in SD.....and then won the WS...

It's baseball anything can and will happen....
