I can see both sides. His defense has been outstanding, sure Freddy over there helps a lot, but he is a good SS.

I really think he turns in on down the stretch., Might not be till Aug or September but hes gonna find it.
I sure hope he does. I think we need his bat more than his defense. He's a great outfielder and infielder. I just don't think a few errors a season is a good trade off for losing that bat. If you go through stats of different positions, SS as a whole has the worst offensive numbers of any position now that pitchers have been taken out of the equation if I recall right. SS is the most active position on the field next to pitching. They don't generally just get over that fact and start being offensive juggernauts.

On the plus side, you have a catcher doing way better than catchers normally do. Hell, hitting way better than he normally hits. He doesn't look like the kind of guy who wears down either, like most catchers.

That was my fear. How many SS have batting titles? None? There’s a reason for it. I just don’t think it was a good move.
You might be on to something. All that lateral movement and body torque can really exhaust the muscles and throw off the swing

Dodgers having trouble putting anything together. Lost 9 of 11 games. When the pitching is on the offense is flat. They lose 2-0. When they score runs the pitching is off and they lose 8-7. At some point they can't keep this up. They gotta start winning. Its a good thing they had a big lead in the division when they hit this losing streak. Still 4 and a half games in first. But they're in danger of getting swept by the Brewers for the second time in two weeks.

Well, they can't keep losing. Sooner or later they have to snap out of it. They're too good to lose the 8 game lead they had. Right? But it does seem concerning. I hope we get some pitchers back soon. And the offense will return to what they were before the slump.

Sucks they have to lose Muncy right when he was in a hot streak. And the move to short stop was a bad move for Betts. 91 games batting .240. Unless he gets real hot he's looking at the lowest BA of his career. They have 62 games left. Assuming he averages 4 at bats per game I figure he'll have to bat .327 the rest of the way to match his career low BA at .264. He's on pace for his lowest homerun output since he became an every day starter ten years ago. Yup, I gotta think the move to short is a big reason for the lack of production.

This is about as insulting a mistake as it gets.

Dodgers are struggling to win games right now. Whenever the pitching is good the offense is not. Whenever the offense is good the pitching is not. I have confidence they'll snap out of it. Too much talent not to. Fortunately they're still holding onto first place. Can you imagine if they were 5 or 6 games behind when they started the losing stretch? They'd be in a tough spot. They're still right where they need to be.

I swear our Bullpen might as well be called the Arson Squad. No lead is safe.

Still not where they were. Struggling to maintain a .500 pace. Padres are only 3 games back now. They should be getting guys back soon. Snell's been rehabbing in the minors. Threw over 4 innings and didn't allow a hit. He's gotta be close. Muncy should be back in a couple weeks. Been slow going for a few weeks. Treinen's back. That should help the bullpen. He might need a few games to get back to where he was. Still concerned with Betts. Moved to shortstop and he's having the worst year at the plate. Probably not a coincidence.

Snell is pitching Saturday, Muncy will be back on the homestand.

I like probably a few thousand of Dodgers fans felt that moving Betts to shortstop was a horrible move.

I hope that layoff won't affect Muncy too much. He was on a tear before he went down. In the month of June he batted .333 with 7 HR's and 24 RBI's. In 25 games. The way their offense has been going they need that bat.
