Looking at the 9ers, they could be in a deep hole

I just took a look at their contract situation for next season.

I knew Trent Williams had signed a big deal but I didn't realize they had structured it so his cap number jumps $17m next year.

The same goes for Armstead, his cap hit jumps almost $15m

Then you get to Bosa and his jumps $7m and he's a UFA (32dn highest paid edge) so they will have to pay him more than the current top edge is getting, which is Myles Garrett on $25m averaged out.

Warner's increases by $10.5m

And CMC's by $11.5m.

Then Kittle rounds it out by jumping almost $4m

That is an additional $65m they have to find for just 6 players.

Then they have a QB they bet the farm on who they don't know has it or not and how to factor in potentially extending him at the end of next season if he plays well.

They could be utterly fucked!

Unless I am reading Under the Cap totally wrong, they haven't just gone all in, they have gone all in and thrown their house, car, wife, and dog onto the table too.

If you have a qb you can work the rest of that stuff out, that’s gotta be giving niners fans anxiety. Jimmy’s injury woes have affected the niners playoff aspirations, again. And I don’t think he stays this offseason. So the Trey Lance era starts next year, unless Brady shows up.

Rams fans should know better than anyone that the salary cap can be managed. More than cap hell, the 49ers need to be concerned with the fact that, with Jimmy G now injured for the season as well, there will likely be no Super Bowl this season. Super Bowl windows in the NFL are very short. And their roster is one that likely does not age well with how many injuries their big name players sustain. The clock is no doubt starting to tick for this group. Can they re-tool on the fly when the time comes? Time will tell. The Rams are in a similar position, in that they likely only have another 2 years or so to compete while relying on this roster core, and will be seeking an on the fly re-tool soon enough.

I just don't agree with that statement. Teams have to win a number of games of real significance just to make the playoffs. Every playoff win is a game of real significance in my opinion; and the closer a team gets to a Lombardi, the greater the significance. The victories are sweeter and more memorable; and the defeats are more brutal ... especially the close games.

That was my only point.

They've only recently restructured/resigned Armstead, Kittle, Williams, and Samuel and any deal they do on Bosa ain't going to lower his cap hit. Then they have to figure out what to fo with Lance.
