Happy for Quick, but sad that JJ is still making some of his same mistakes from last year. You peek too long, and bite at that fake, and it's a TD. If it's not a fake, he may score a TD. Risk/reward vs. situation. I was taught, and I taught that you never go for the INT, unless you are assured of getting two hands on it. It's better to keep the receiver in front of you and live another play.
Not taking anything away from Quick, he sold the slant well, took a hard, fast cut, and blew by the defender. Some credit has to go to the QB, who must have pump-faked effectively, because that is who JJ was looking at.
Corners will often peek at the QB through a 3 step drop to try to prevent a slant, hitch, or flat. The DB will line up slightly on the outside shade of the receiver, so that he can see both in his vision. It wasn't that he bit so much that got him in trouble, but he sold out. If you sell out, you better be sure.
