Except of course there is the idea that they don't have to say anything....I think you put too much into what these guys say. They generally calculate their responses and likely don't give a damn if people later on say, "but you said..."

This is news because Snead made it news
Sure - they could just say nothing. What? Coaches and GMs get interviewed all the time. They say whatever they feel like saying knowing that no one can hold them to it. Smoke screen, truth, misdirection, saying what players or the media want to hear, etc... It is them saying what they feel they need to say. Saying nothing to the media is not an option for any coach or GM when interviewed. It just isn't.Except of course there is the idea that they don't have to say anything....

I feel the same but I know Snead and Fish will pick up somebody in round 1 and more than likely with a trade up. I feel like Fish's ties to Tennessee like he had ties to Washington and Shannon for the RG3 deal will win out for us trading up. Or with Dallas.Keenum can provide much better QB play than what Foles did in 2015-16. He already proved it last season. I think we can make the playoffs with Keenum. Especially if we surround him with weapons and don't have our o-line ravaged by injuries this time around.
My issue with Keenum is that he is not a franchise guy. Not every team can have a franchise QB, and you definitely don't need one to win, but Keenum isn't even a bonafide starter. He's simply "meh". And I don't see him becoming more than that. Hopefully I am wrong.... but I don't see this team ever getting to the next level with Keenum under centre. That's a problem if your goal is to build a Super Bowl winner and not just be content with merely qualifying for post-season every year.
I think this is the main conversation we should be having - and have had to some extent in other threads.
As I have said - I look around the league and I can see some pretty good supporting casts with - lets say bottom 4th of the league QBs - and I see those teams going nowhere.
I also see teams with top 4th of the league QBs and those teams are in the playoffs year after year even if their supporting cast is meh.
We honestly don't know how good or bad our WRs and TEs are - we haven't gotten to see them play with a top QB - ever. A good QB can throw a receiver open - and a bad QB can miss an open receiver.
I think we are just kidding ourselves thinking that we don't need one. If they believe that Case or Mannion has a future as a high quality starter in this league and just needs a bit of time to develop, then so be it - lets put the time in. But I have a hard time swallowing the old, we don't really need a good QB argument - because we clearly do, just like every other team does.
Britt, Quick, Tavon, and Steddy (if he comes back) is not a bad top 4 - would be nice if Quick got his groove back. Marquez looks like he may have a future on offense. Gurley may be the best back in the league for the next 10 years. We could use some TE help, but Harkey and Kendricks are NFL starting caliber guys - not Gronk, but who else is?
Its the most important position in football - and it isn't even close to the second or third most important position.
Don't get me wrong 12inthebox, I want to see an improvement at QB too. Hell I want a Brady, Manning, Brees kind of improvement for our team. I just don't know if this is the year to mortgage our future to get one when we have so many other needs on offense. I'm thinking long term when I say I prefer an offensive heavy draft this year. I don't think Keenum is our savior, I just think he is good enough for now if we can surround him with talent now. Let's get him some quality to work with (besides Gurley and Austin the gadget player) and then see what the draft and FA brings us next year in terms of a QB of the future.
I'm not in the Quick camp at all so I'm a lot more pessimistic about our WR and TE talent than you are. I agree we don't need a Gronk at TE either but I'd sure be happy to trade ours for an Olsen, Kelce, Reed, Walker, Ertz, type of TE. I like Britt as a 2...I like Austin as a gadget player that can line up all over the field and keep defenses guessing....I freaking love Gurley (and hope to see him a lot more involved in the passing game this year)...Outside of those guys I don't feel there is a lot to like on our offense.
I think we need to ask ourselves...
Are the Rams going to be better if they trade away all their premium picks to move up and draft a QB (Roll with the same WR and TE crew we already have)
or
Stay put and draft heavy on offense (WR and TE) and roll with Keenum and a significatly improved supporting cast.
I presonally prefer the second option. I think Keenum can thrive if he has a decent Oline and really good WR and TE targets. I hope we go WR, WR, TE with our first 3 picks.
Well, I'm in New Jersey and this morning the local sports radio station WFAN announced it on the 20 minute sports update. I don't get news about the Rams on my local, but this was presented as "big news"Sure - they could just say nothing. What? Coaches and GMs get interviewed all the time. But he didn't say something different a couple months ago. The assertion that he did was already debunked by other members here. It was a misquote that some moron Tweeted incorrectly. And even if it wasn't misinterpreted, you no doubt keyed in on it because it was the Rams. On the West coast, I hear crap about the shecocks, whiners, and raiduhs - oddly nothing about the Bolts but didn't hear or see anything on this until I read it here. There isn't a lot going on in the NFL so a franchise that was involved in the biggest NFL story in years and is still transitioning to the 2nd largest market is going to have reporters hanging around trying to get any quote or tidbit they can. Simply put - nothing nefarious going on here. Just Les giving them something to print so they can go off happy.Well, I'm in New Jersey and this morning the local sports radio station WFAN announced it on the 20 minute sports update. I would imagine that this wasn't the only presser going on, surely they had other bits to dwell on.
So Snead had an intent to broadcast this, which is strange considering he said something quite different just a couple months ago
It was either that or "ew".You can't say "ick" on a football board, it's too "chickish".
That's usually the Best course at this time of year!!You can't trust anything anyone says at this stage of the off season.

The pictures that come into ones mind at moments like this!!It was either that or "ew".
I'm just trying to get in touch with my inner metrosexual.
You understand I'm sure.
